Anybody else enjoying the shite out of this show right now?
I haven't seen today's episode yet but I've read the manga and have still been blown away by how good it's been so far and even more excited for what's to come.

Also read the manga but feel the exact opposite

Because of the ending or something else?

Because of the ending. As in the last 3-4 chapters. I felt like the themes surrounding the ending did not fall in line with the themes of the rest of the story. I don’t think Yams knew how to end it so he just went with something. Some of the important lines and scenes were very cringe.
Again this is just the very end, I thought it was great until then

Hate the time travel memory transmission component of the Attack Titan because it (a) was completely unnecessary for the story, (b) brings in the standard plot issues as it pertains to causal loops that time travelish elements always have, and (c) means that free will/choice are illusory in this universe because everything is predetermined which thematically is the antithesis of what Eren fights for
The Rumbling is cool as hell and dark as all hell though. I think the entire idea that we’ve been watching three and a half seasons of a villain origin story alongside a fight for freedom and the whole moral ambiguity of the decisions on the table are excellent.
Overall it has been true to the source material and animated well, but in my opinion the source material didn’t quite stick the landing on the ending and for a show and story that’s been so unbelievably good for so long that’s a bit of a drag

I agree which is another reason why I hated the ending because it feels like nothing matters.

Honestly it barely even felt like typical AOT material. I was thinking is this AOT anymore or has it morphed into something else as I was finishing. The stakes were highest then they ever were but at the same time they weren’t for the main characters (aka the Cringevengers)

Havent seen the ending. But it keeps getting better and better.

I just realized they are definitely not going to finish the show in only two episodes left.

So the movie finale rumors are seeming more likely? This shite is annoying.

Have to be.
Honestly lame of them to advertise this as the final season and then push the ending off until next year. Trying hard to milk this as much as possible
I’m somewhat hoping for an anime only ending, if it at least changing a few scenes. But I doubt it

To be fair they did that with part 1 too. That’s pretty lame. I’m glad they are doing more episodes instead of a movie to flesh it out more but still really lame to wait a whole extra year.
I read Isayama has said the anime is the definitive version of the story in his opinion so maybe we will get an alternate ending (again).
I also kinda like the multiverse theory as just something fun to think about.

I thought the anime version of the “What am I to you” scene hit a lot better for me than the manga. Maybe bc I’ve already it all but it was just so much clearer to me Eren’s intentions here and what Mikasa’s answer meant for both of them.
This makes me a lot more confident that even if we don’t get an some only ending, at least I’ll feel better about what does happen.

I’m not going to give the show creators the satisfaction of making a new thread for “final season part 3 part 1”.
But the sub version of Final Season Part 3 Part 1 is up on Hulu and Crunchyroll. It is a one-hour long episode and will be the only one for Part 1.
Part 2 is expected some time this fall and is expected to end the show, finally.

Well shite….if that’s the case then I’ll just wait until the fall to watch both. I had to watch a few episodes before the newest one just to remember what happened. It’s been so long.

I watched it. You’d probably be better off waiting. It was very good, but you’re gonna want some resolution.

Wait, so S4P3 is just one episode? And then S4P4 airs this fall, also just one episode?

Yes, but it is one-hour long.

It's not confirmed, but I would assume so. I don't think they announced this was only going to be one episode until a couple weeks ago. It will be a while until we get confirmation.
I'm sure that someone that read the manga can estimate the time required to finish it after seeing where this one ends.
If we are lucky maybe they make it a feature length movie and release in cinemas like they have been doing for every arc of Demon Slayer.
