How the hell has no one mentioned The Goonies???

Not to mention yall better put some respect on Ronald Miller’s name

Girls came of age in the 80s too assholes….

And Fred Savage came of age many times other than Wonder Years….

And let’s close it out with the original slow clap….

Also shocked that Pump up the Volume came out in 90. Could have sworn that was 80s

I was watching this with my girlfriend and her parents when towards the end she blurted out, "I'm pregnant." I near shoot my pants. The 80's were a blast.

This category for sure. A very underrated movie. Matt Dillon was great.

Great music throughout... it turned from pure comedy to a drama halfway through. Still one of my faves

Can’t Buy Me Love
—————————————————————-
One of the best teen movies ever. If you would have told anyone in 1988 that Ronald”My life on a Mower” Miller would be considered a heartthrob & Cindy “Captain of the Cheerleaders” Mancini would be dead from drug use 30 years later, you would have been called insane. Yet it happened.

Probably the most underrated of the Cusack teen flicks. Daphne Zuniga was sneaky hot.

Many of the movies listed are great, and teen movies, but not necessarily "coming of age".

Vision Quest is great. Its a story about setting goals and reaching them, no matter the personal toll. Its also about a kid growing into a man, physical, mentally, emotionally. Elmo's speech, while cliche and predictable, is one of the best you'll ever see in film. Elmo's Speech

There are many stories about the underdog, who sucks at everything, who finally does enough to get noticed or beat the bully. Vision Quest is unique in that the main character was already a star. He was pretty much guaranteed to win his division, take the state title, earn a scholarship. He had girls after him. That was not enough for him. He went down in weight because he knew that was where to find the best wrestlers. He didn't settle for the cute girl. He went after THE girl. His quest wasn't for recognition, it was for perfection.
