Acquired a rare Mitchell BNC camera then had a Zeiss lens custom mounted on it specifically for the candle light scenes.

Kubrick did a lot of cool stuff with lighting in Eyes Wide Shut as well.

Funny, I was just thinking of Barry Lyndon today, but not the NASA lenses, (which BTW I have watched that video like 10 times over the years, it's awesome how Kubrick got his hands on those cameras) it was about the sheer genius of shooting the landscapes to look like paintings.
I honestly think this is the most beautiful and unique cinematography ever put on film... And that's not hyperbole.
