re: Dave Chappelle tells a Jim Carrey story to say something about those letter T people lol

We watched his special last night. It was good, just not his best. I'm a big Chappelle fan. We had just finished watching Blackkklansman. I think I was just tired of hearing about race and stuff and hearing the n-word (hard Rs) for 2 1/2 hours ..

I told my wife, this is why I like Nate so much.

I watched that special last night. Not sure if it's because I'm under the weather with the flu, but I thought the whole special just sucked from start to finish. I barely cracked a smile. Feels like Dave was just mailing it in and cashing a check. It was lazy and not funny at all.

I can’t say I didn’t chuckle a good bit through the first half. But it definitely felt more like hanging out with a funny dude than watching a standup special.

Dave fell into just repacking tired old jokes which is a shame because the dude used to be one of the GOATs of course with most here you can tell the weakest trans joke and they’ll piss themselves laughing

Wife and I watched this last night as well, and we were both underwhelmed. It's not that it was bad, it just wasn't particularly good either.

He's still a great storyteller, but in this special it feels like he's milking stories for time more than just telling a good story slowly, if that makes sense. And like someone said, his jokes felt way lazier this time around. And while he even does a bit about how he's a lazy comedian, it still took away from the special a little bit.

He also tries to "preach" too much for my taste sometimes these days. And not that that's a bad thing, but this special felt overly "talky" as opposed to actual comedy.

That being said, I still love listening to Dave will watch basically any special he releases.

I have to say though, not trying to be that guy whatsoever, but his specials just get more and more underwhelming to me. He’s an absolute legend and maybe the bar is just that high at this point. But his last couple just haven’t felt like the event that Chappelle shows have always been

That said, I still marvel at what a spectacular storyteller he is. The guy can just make a story about nothing entertaining due to his charm

I think the bar is probably too high. This was a little underwhelming to me as well, but still pretty funny. He has just had stuff so good it's almost not even fair to compare his newest stuff to some of his classics.

Dude is a legend though and props to him for even still doing new specials. He could have retired from stand up a long time ago and still went down as one of the greats.

It was a good special, but I’d rank it last compared to the previous 3 he did.

Making fun of delusional people that demand you give into their delusion is never not funny and I don’t want to live in a world where it isn’t.

I’m not a hateful person. I know and respect plenty of people that are fluid/gay/trans/whatever. But their most vocal activists are really easy to make fun of just like conservatives, vegans, climate activists, etc.
