His name is Mitch....Mitch Kramer.
I know Mitch gets a lot of flack for the nose grabbing, but does it bother anyone else that Carl Burnett never gets the paddle??
Mitch and Hershfelder get it bad, and Carl's nerdy arse just skates by after asking Mitch to go home solo from the game he just won for the team to lead the seniors away.
Then he throws salt on his boys that were actually pulling arse at the dance and then tosses the beer that they gave Hershfelder as consolation after they made him squeal like a pig.
Then dumps paint on O'Banyon even though he never even actually did anything to him.
So, basically, frick Carl.

It has qualities of that Linklater touch but also feels like he was trying too hard to make it extremely commercial...it feels like he compromised with the studio..as good as an American youth flick as it is...it could have been the most raw, honest and best if he had the same freedom as in Slacker.

You know how for like the last year or so I've been talking about going to law school so I can become a ACLU lawyer to be in a position to help people getting fricked over and all that? Well I'm standing in line at the post office yesterday you know, and I'm looking around and everybody's looking really pathetic you know what I mean. Like people have just got drool sticking there, and like this guy's bending over and you can see the crack of his... It was all just like wife beaters, it was.. Anyway. I realise that I just don't want to do it. You know what I mean it sounds good and all but I just have to confront the fact that I really don't like the people I've been talking about helping out. You know what I'm saying. I don't like people period. I mean you guys are okay. I don't know. I'm just trying to be honest about being a misanthrope.
This quote is so ridiculously relevant to my life right now it's scary

Delta had it on it's movies and may still be showing it. Made for a damn good flight.
All three folks on my row were watching it and we all agreed it was one of our top 5 movies. Everything about it is awesome

that kid was the worst. If there was any justice in this world, O'bannion would have sodomized him with it, then got paint dumped on him.

I think I first saw this on a fraternity lake trip.

It's fairly realistic. People ask what kids did before cell phones, I think the movie nails it. Cruising was big

The little details. It nails the high school guys I remember when I was a kid, and much Carrie over to my high school and college years.
Too heavy on the whole coach (the man) running people's lives and that damned letter. But all else is greatness.
Little parts. Like the red head dude getting shite faced in the back of the truck, trying to stand and realizing how drunk he got.

One of my favorites and easily one of the best opening scenes ever. Sweet emotion

I think if you didn't watch this as a teenager (especially a teenager who partied), it's very hard to get how fun/sentimental this movie was. Every character was someone you partied with, someone you were friends with.
The girls were especially accurate. There was a Parker Posey hard partying bitch, was just dead on. I think anybody who grew up in pre Internet age can relate in just about everything in this movie.

Yeah, that action was happening in every town across the nation. Cruising and gathering spots.

It is really good. It's in my top 20. It's like the white 70s version of Friday. So quotable.
