If you want to make money with a Mad Max movie just put Mel Gibson in it and make it about, ya know Mad Max.

No desire to see it in theaters but will definitely watch once it is available via streaming.

Some obvious dumb decisions were made but still sounds like a solid movie. I hope Max gets it.

Actually has gotten pretty good reviews by audience and critics. This is probably one that is much better on the big screen but I was just going to wait for streaming.

Not that this is a believable movie in general, but 100lb soaking wet Anya Taylor Joy as the bad arse lead didn't help imo.

When they made Fury Road they came up with so much backstory they had 2 prequels worth of material out of it. This and one for what Max was doing the year prior. So the next one, if it gets made, will have Max as the main.

Of all the suspension of disbelief breaking things in this (and 99% of other action movies) is very far down on the list.

Miller and Gibson mutually agreed before Fury Road that he was too old to do the stunts. Gibson probably has PTSD flashbacks from filming Road Warrior. I would love an old man Max movie but they waited too long to try it.

ETA: Here is a short behind the scenes video of the stunts in Road Warrior. At the 4 minute mark you see one of the accidents that nearly killed one of the stunt guys

I don't recall her physically beating up men much at all in the movie. As you know, a lot of these movies involve vehicle combat and gunplay which doesn't require her to be 200lbs. But I could be misremembering.

Eh. It’s not exactly like you don’t have to suspend belief a lot in these movies to begin with.

As for OP, this just wasn’t something I cared to spend money to see in the theater. I’ll watch it streaming.

She plays third fiddle behind Hemsworth and Tom Burke.

A prequel about Furiosa was never going to do well. The reason Fury Road got decent box office numbers was the nostalgia of a Mad Max movie after 30 years AND great reviews / word of mouth. But even then it’s not like Firy Road set the box office on fire.

It will go to the $19.99 rentals on the apps for a few weeks but it will be free on Max by the end of July for sure.

Yea I don't think it's going to bother me that much and I actually want to see it and probably would have in theatres if I would have had the time. Would have preferred for this movie to succeed than flop. But it was just something about the previews that made it seem like she didn't fit the role. I don't know, maybe not.

I can’t stand ATJ

She looks like a bug and it’s distracting

I watched a little bit of a feature or something on YouTube and decided I didn't wanna see it in theaters. I really don't know what turned me off, just didn't seem like the story and action is there like the last one.

Of course I'll watch it when it streams

I'm not sure why these people don't understand they ruin their own chances at good theatrical takes when they openly tell audiences movies will be on streaming just 3 months after release (Inside Out 2) or yank a movie two weeks after release b/c it didn't hit $50m the first weekend (Universal's current SOP).

It also doesn't help that movie trailers are now at an all time low in terms of actually getting people interested in a film. Studios are clearly spending as little as possible on the people cutting them and it really shows w/how piss poor most ad campaigns have been as of late.

Fury Road only made 380n worldwide in 2015 when movies were doing better in general.

I found that surprising.
