Game of Thrones - Shae

I'm watching Game of Thrones for the first time. Just finished season 4. Question tho for the board. Did Shae ever love Tyrion or was she always just in it for the money?

Shae and Bronn were the same. Showed some affection for Tyrion but in the end all about the money

If they never included the last scene, I would say that she was in love with him. She seemed pissed at him and a scorned ex lover when she was testifying. But that last scene makes me think it was all an act. The first 2 responses are in disagreement. I think it's a tough one to pin down.

Always thought the actress did a good job of making it look that way. I always just assumed she grew to actually care about and respect Tyrion. But at the end of the day she had to do what was in her best interests.

Honest opinion?
I think she wasn't really able to distinguish between her love of him and her love of his wealth. It's also possible she saw the two as one.
Kind of hard to guess what a person in her position, in that kind of world, would be feeling.

Indeed. I can't recall at this point, but didn't she scorn both Tyrion and Varys for trying to give her a bunch of money to leave? Why not leave then? I guess it's reasonable that she also liked being close to the center of power, in addition to the money, and would probably never find a better place to live.

In the TV show? Yes. She genuinely loves him and he breaks her heart sending her away. She wants revenge for this and it is why she testifies against him.
In the books? No. He is just a way to further her position in the world. The actual reason he kills his father is that Jamie tells him that Tysha (the girl from the story he tells in the tent about how he lost his virginity when Shae first enters the story in the show) was actually in love with him and wasn't a set up like they told him.
In the books he straight up murders Shae while she tries to say Tywin forced her to bed instead of the self-defense type thing they do in the show.

I’m not as sure about Show Shae, but Book Shae I’m certain never loved him. She was a using whore who was simply in it for the jewelry and treatment. Plus I imagine her in the books as looking like Shyla Jennings.
