HBO’s Tales From the Crypt

Due to a huge legal battle between multiple parties over the copyright, HBO’s Tales from the Crypt is nowhere to be found on any streaming platforms, no HD remasters, hell not even a reboot from HBO. It’s a shame considering Tales from the Crypt was HBO’s first tv show that turned into a cultural phenomenon, and made the Cryptkeeper a household name.
Anyways, what is your favorite Crypt episodes?
“And All Through the House” - iconic Robert Zemeckis directed episode where a woman is stalked by a killer Santa on Christmas Eve.
The Switch an old millionaire is in love with a woman much younger than he. He decides to use advanced plastic surgery to appear younger and win her over. Directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger who also makes a cameo appearance with the Crypt Keeper
“Carrion Death” A killer on the run (Kyle Maclachlan) headed for the Mexican boarder accidentally becomes handcuffed to the cop he murdered while wandering the desert.
“Television Terror” Morton Downey Jr. plays a sensationalist TV show that live broadcasts an investigation into a Haunted House.
“Yellow” a tribute to Kubrick’s Paths of Glory starring Kirk Douglas as a commanding officer during WWI who must sentence a member of his platoon to death for cowardice, who just happens to be his son. Also starring Dan Aykroyd and Lance Henrikson.
“The New Arrival” a failing Dr. Phil type radio host visits the home of one his frequent callers who has a problem child. But things are not what they seem. This episode is the closest the show ever got to pure horror.
“Death of Some Salesman” a sleazy traveling salesman who makes a living scamming people knocks on the wrong door, as he is greeted by a hostile redneck family with a vendetta against salesman. The entire redneck family is played by the legendary Tim Curry.
If you never watched the show of course I highly recommend. Both A-listers in front and behind the camera.

Always forget about this show. I wish it were available as I hardly remember the episodes I watched when I was just a kid.

Is that the episode where there really wasn't anyone else in the episode and the actor played both parts (police and suspect)?

This one is a reboot of a segment of the 1972 movie with Joan Collins

I was young but loved this growing up. Actually just rewatched the movie (demon knight) the other day. Not as good as I remember but it was a nice trip down memory lane and the soundtrack is badass. Especially the opening scene with "nice shot" by Filter.

I vividly remember an episode about a girl on a farm who pretends to be in love with a scarecrow...

The one I always remember is Cathy Ireland (I think) doing anything she had to do to win a beauty contest for...Ms. Autopsy.

You can watch many of them on YouTube. Love that series.

The ones where they use to show tit.
For a kid, Tales and the Hitchhiker would often show tit.
That was what HBO and Skinemax were all about.

Abra Cadaver
Starred Beau Bridges and Tony Goldwyn. I watched it a billion times. Involves being operated on while paralyzed and you can't tell the surgeon you can feel everything.
What about the similar horror anthologies?
Tales from the Darkside
Monsters
Freddie's Nightmares

We didn't have cable until '95 so I would have to go over to friends' houses to watch this. But we would watch all the time. I loved it. Wish it would get picked up somewhere

I hated scary shite as a kid, so I never liked this show and rarely saw any of it. And now, as an adult, I absolutely love horror shite. And if this could somehow start streaming somewhere I'd watch the shite out of it.
If this was an original HBO property why can't they stream it or have it on demand?

I think I remember this one. Does the guy get his eyes eaten by a vulture or condor at the end? If so, that one scared the shite out of me as a kid.

Apparently Prince Philip is being pegged to play the Crypt Keeper.

Just started watching this one on youtubve, and I'm not sure I can get past the right handed cop using a left handed holster.

Legal battle between HBO and EC comics who created Tales from the Crypt as a comic book in the 50s

They don't seem to have any of the old original shows on HBO streaming.... 1st and 10, Dream On, the Hitchhiker, etc...

Food For Thought- where Ernie Hudson plays an abusive psychic clown in a sideshow that has a man eating gorilla.
