How bad were Entourage Seasons 6-8?

I think they rank up there with some of the worst TV in history. Loved the first 5 seasons. They should have ended it. I can't decide which parts of those seasons were worst. Giving Turtle's character a more serious role? Sasha Greys horrible performance? The unnecessary creation of Scott Caans character? It seems like they had no clue where to go after Season 5. I loved the first five seasons. I will say that the actor who played Phil Yogoda was the only good part of those three seasons.

It was good for a porn star who was only there because some show higher up wanted to try to frick her.

I thought she was unbearable, but I see your point. I just couldn't believe it because after all the hot pieces Vince has had in the day he would date a pretty average looking pornstar?

It suffered the same fate as all feel-good real-life drama series. Ultimately writers can only produce the same happy ending for each scenario before they run out of material, sooner than later. Sometimes the only way to make it work is to sacrifice main characters (and not necessarily in the literal meaning)..

having an entire episode centered around a pee test and a fake dick was a new low for them

I remember there was lots of conversation after about season 4 or 5 that the show had jumped the shark and was essentially out of ideas.
But then the writers snd showrunners doubled down and tried to make the show a little darker and that's why we got the Shasha Grey/Vince drug problem shite.
Whatever season that was I remember being terrible. By the final season, they reverted back to the old days of Happy Endings and parties, etc.
The central flaw of the show was always that the "star" in Vince was not a real star, and did not have those star qualities, therefore much of the situations (whole agencies fighting for him to be their client) was not believeable.
Eric was the star of the show, with Ari as his co-lead. Vince was easily the least interesting person in the show.

Entourage was fine at the start, but after a couple seasons you realize that their really is no overarching story. Each season is just some situation of Vince wants a part, their are a bunch of issues with the movie, then everything miraculously works itself out.
I don't think I knew this before, but listened to the guy who created Entourage on a podcast recently and he wanted to kill Vince off during the last season, but got talked out of it

This is really true. The subplots/supporting cast character development (Drama’s career roller coaster, Ari’s business wars, Lloyd leaving Ari, Eric and Sloan, even Turtle’s tequila business and being a music rep) was much more interesting than Vince’s.

Pretty sure they got new writers after season 4 or 5. Man the first few seasons of that show were so good. That furry episode is greatness.

I still enjoyed 6-8 and actually thought Sasha was pretty damn good in the show.
Agreed that they didn’t compare to 1-5, but still enjoyable for me. I’d have watched a season 9.
Thought the movie sucked though.
