How can the HBO max app be so awful?

I regularly get kicked off of a show I’m watching and taken to the “who is watching screen”.

This morning, I’m trying to watch the latest Barry episode and have been kicked out 4-5 times.

The content is so good but the app is utter garbage. It makes me want to cancel my subscription out of principle, because I shouldn’t reward this ineptitude, but they have too many shows I watch.

Can they not hire a few people from literally any other streaming service to fix this shite?

I dont know why there isn't a way to easily filter between series and movies on my watchlist. Thats my only complaint with the app really.

What interface are you using for the app? I find the app works really well on my Xbox and fire tv but is shite on my Samsung smart tv (2016).

Works fine with my Roku

It was glitchy in the beginning, but I haven't had any issues with it since after like the first month

^^^ It was literal trash on my PS4 and is only slightly improved on my PS5, streaming through a browser or off of the XSX is no issue.

LG TV

Maybe it’s specific to the TV? Although Netflix, YouTube TV, Hulu, Amazon, Disney+ don’t give me any of these issues

LG TV

The app absolutely sucks on my LG TV. It works perfectly fine on our roku on a different TV. Half the time it won't even load movies on our LG so I'll just watch HBO stuff through the Hulu app instead.

It crashes all the tine on tablets.

And you can't watch and surf at the same time.

Prime is fine.

HBO Max is a hit and miss depending on your use.

It sucks on our LG and Vizio TVs. Constantly buffers and kicks you out of the show.

They’ve had a bad history with their streaming platforms failing but I haven’t had issue with them in a long time.

The gaming versions of HBOMax were notoriously useless for a long time, not sure if that’s improved or what you are using. My Roku app has no issues

I used to be one of the biggest champions of this cause as a few people on this board probably can attest. However, with their most recent update which is like version 52 on PS5 it has been completely stable. Plus HBO Max is legit one of the only steam platforms still worth supporting and paying for and not just pirating the rare good things the others shite out.

It's trash on the phone. They don't even have simple permissions that other apps have.

1. Phone call...video keeps playing.
2. There is no multi task window.
3. It requires loads of data and spins forever. Will say you are offline when you have full bars.
4. Downloaded movies won't play when you are in airplane mode. Learned that one on a flight recently.

About the dumbest streaming app in the world.

I never have any problems with my firestick. Sometimes it's best to log out and log back in though.

Happens nonstop on tablets.

Have to constantly reload and they don't pick up where you left off.

Did you give your password out and too many people are logging in at once?

I use it on fire stick and works fine

I've never had an issue using it on my PC, Roku, or my iPhone. However, the UI leaves a lot to be desired.
