Let's say he doesn't lose focus and eliminates Chong Li.

Is now day 3 and he has to face Chuan Ip Mung. He wasn't able to really hang with Chong Li.

Frank then out-kicks a lifelong muay thai fighter and advances

Chong Li had to try and kill Jackson to stop him, does Frank have to go that route? Or does Ray just stomp his arse, throw him off the platform, gets the sword, tells Dux, "better luck in 5 years" and leaves with the blonde?

Show Paco some respect.

Was terrible. Jackson probably takes him out and gets destroyed by Dux in the final.

oh it was said sarcastically. IRL frank gets owned. He gives his left ribcage up to that guys leg, after 2 he's dealing with multiple broken ribs and maybe a punctured lung.

Unless Tanaka injected him with adamantium

Paco would've fricked Jackson up

Kumite Power Ratings:
Chong Li (Dux loses 6/10 times)
Dux
Paco
Sumo
Monkey Man
Jackson

If Ray could have even made the final, there’s zero chance he beats Dux (movie Dux, not IRL Dux).

You can’t just overpower everybody in a tournament like that. And let’s be honest, Chong Li was sort of fricking with him as well, and wasn’t really on the verge of losing. He even laughs at the fact that Ray bloodied his lip, and then promptly bests the shite out of him.

Chong Li wasn’t losing that fight, even if Ray stayed focused IMO.

Well the movie wasn’t named “Groundfighter.”

Obviously not. Frank Dux had mad special moves, including the ability to take massive punishment to his torso. Tanaka prepared him. Frank made Paco his bitch.

And cut the “IRL” nonsense. Bloodsport = true story. Saying “IRL” is redundant.

I found an actual rating site

23- RAY JACKSON
quote:

Ray Jackson sucked at the Kumite. There, I said it. Besides one easy victory, his other two matches of note include almost getting knocked out by a nobody and prematurely celebrating a victory against Chong Li (which leads to Jackson almost getting killed). His fighting style includes grabbing people who get close to him and running at opponents with his arms outstreched. Also, his sweatpants are — bar none — the least fashionable attire worn at this worldwide gathering of the greatest fighters alive.

Based on what? Dux whooped his arse blind after whooping his arse to start out.

Chong Li was likely kinda washed by this tournament. He was basically post-jail Mike Tyson. Crazy intimidating and would crush opponents early but if you stood up to him, he didn't really have much behind that initial rush. If he didn't hobble you in the first minute, you had a shot.

Dux OTOH was a freight train and the only time he was legitimately threatened was when E. Honda had him in the death hug.

Exactly, it was part of his training.

Dux had a 321-1-7 record IRL, so I doubt Chong Li has that much success.

I wouldn't sleep on Suan Paredes. After losing in the Kumite he fled to Thailand, trained, and re-emerged even stronger as Tong Po. The talent was always there.

I’m not sure Ray had the stamina to go the full 56 rounds of the tournament

You questioning Frank's record?

I'll bet you think he didn't knock out 56 opponents in a row too.
