I forget sometimes how well produced these shows are. From the willingness to witness some of life's most private moments, to the visually imaginative and poignant shot selection, to the masterful editing that shapes and creates stories, the program has represented some of the best work in the documentary category for decades.
A couple of oustanding episodes I watched yesterday:
The Undertaking
Facing Death

Speaking of PBS, I just watched The Eugenics Crusade by PBS’ American Experience. It’s fascinating. Almost Ken Burns-level production.
Well-intentioned principles that were eventually demonized due to the faulty implementation & execution by authoritarians & nazis. Even the historians in the documentary acknowledge Eugenics, in theory, could be beneficial for society, if ever properly enacted.

Side note: the narrator for the Frontline series on PBS is Will Lyman. For side projects, he’d do his own documentaries and one subject was about my grandfather, (photographer & French Quarter character) Johnny Donnels in the Pink Satin Suit

Frontline is great. Covering very interesting stuff that is not on the daily news, in most cases.
The two-part series on the tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran is a great one.
