Smith's production company, Overbrook Entertainment, owns the rights to the Karate Kid franchise. You might remember that back in 2010, a Karate Kid reboot starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith (Will's son and hip-hop artist) was released in an attempt to start the storied '80s franchise back up (Columbia Picutres/Sony Entertainment has owned the movie rights since the original was released, but Smith's Overbrook has overseen the title since that reboot).

I fully expect Daniel to become transsexual now

Jaden is one strange dude and I hope to God Will doesn't pimp em out for the show.

I really thought that Smith had learned his lesson after Wild Wild West. He'd publicly stated that it was the wrong way to reboot a franchise.

Probably did it just so he could cast his son.
Didn't see it but by all accounts it sucked although it played big in the international box office.

Smith has owned the rights since way before Cobra Kai started. Wouldn't it have happened already?

Interesting
Eh.
The fact he had almost nothing to do with the creation and subsequent success of the series and still the EP, is pretty interesting IMO.

I won’t accept Wild Wild West slander in this thread

I didn't realize he was a producer, but good for him.

Lol.. same here. I pulled for Cobra Kai too. This is my second time watching CK series and I wish they would have just let Johnny and Daniel fight. The beginning of the series was wayyy better than the second.

Never saw it. Only thing I remember is that you couldn't get away from that fricking theme song in the summer of '99.

Kevin Kline perfectly cast as Artemis Gordon.
Will Smith played Will Smith instead of Jim West.
Jon Peters finally got his giant spider into a movie.
You didn't miss anything.
