Watched JFK the other day and loved John Candy in his cameo as Dean Anndrews Jr. I have heard that was how Andrews really was. Not sure if true. Whats the boards opinion on this? Showed some range from Candy and not just a comedian actor.

John Candy did the best job nailing the person he portrayed. Looked like him and looked like him.

The real Dean Andrews Jr., the NO lawyer portrayed in the film that testified in the Clay Shaw case
Candy steals every scene he's in :

John Candy was perfect in every movie he was in. Such a presence and I'm not talking about his size.

We've been thicker than molasses pie ever since law school.

Candy was such a big, lovable, and hilarious guy that people forget he could easily nail a dramatic scene. A tremendous talent.

The “I like me” scene and the later reveal in planes trains and automobiles is one of the few scenes that makes my allergies flare up

Watched Uncle Buck and The Great Outdoors the other day with my daughter (7). She said "daddy, I want to know, where is Uncle Buck now?" Sadly I had to tell her that he was no longer with us. She LOVED his character in that movie.

God damn you. Now I have dust in my eyes. I can't rewatch that reveal scene.

Love John Candy but there are a few cringe scenes in Cool Runnings

"He's got the right ta ta but the wrong ho ho."
The mannerisms of Candy really are spot on after watching that clip. Candy smoked like a high school kid trying to impress his friends...which is exactly how the real Andrews smoked.

I remember vividly waking up on a weekend morning as a kid learning that John candy passed away.

JC is the most beloved and missed deceased actor of all time

John candy is my personal favorite (of those that passed way too early), but I think James dean is by far regarded as #1 in that category.
Ps- I’m not the one that downvoted you.

Candy was one of my favorite comedic actors. He excelled in that genre but did show a talent for the more serious side of acting in some roles.
Every time I watch "Wagons East" I laugh at his antics, but the reality that he died while in Durango, Mexico when the were wrapping up filming brings reality to it about how short life can be for some folks.
