I’m going to be spoilery here.

***** spoilers *****

I would wager that they stretch out the key moment that happens very early in the game to the end of the season.

I don't play the game but is it a continuation or a different story line?

SPOILERS, obviously.

It's the same storyline and follows Ellie & Joel, and there's a time jump to a few years later.

Yeah Mazin had all but said this earlier this year.

Saying there is more than one more seasons worth of content already available. This confirms it though.

Which he said in service of making the point he has no plans to expand beyond what has already been released. That if a Part 3 comes out, he'll consider it, but this wont be a GOT scenario where he is trying to carry on someone else's story without them or trying to turn this into 7 seasons.

Personally I think based on Production times, that gives the show 3-4 years for 2 seasons and should align relatively closely to the next game. Which I assume is already in storyboard and initial stages(even if Druckmann claims otherwise, as he has said he already has an idea of where the story will conclude and that was in an interview right when Part 2 came out)

Is it REALLY more than one seasons worth of content? Or is that also bloating up like season 1 did with a bunch of stuff that could’ve been condensed way down?

Why not make 12 episodes for season 2 of no filler and all good stuff instead of 18 episodes with fillers thrown in spaced out until 2026

Yep. I guarantee that caps off the second season and ends on the cliffhanger.

Yes, easily IMO.

Frankly one of the valid criticisms of season 1 is not letting the show breathe even more. Which I think they could have done.

Honestly the game could have done a better job fleshing out some of the secondary characters they introduce in Game 2 as well, along with the various factions. And I think not having to be stuck with only two perspectives will allow them to make a more ensemble show with a more fleshed out world/cast.

The scale is also much bigger, and covers even more locations, with some key set pieces that blow anything in season 1 out the water except maybe outbreak day. I'm expecting HBO to bump it up to HOTD levels based on doing HOTD level numbers. I could see them shooting both seasons back 2 back though. It would make a lot of sense and probably help save on some costs. But all in one season without scaling it back would be Rings of Power level money.

I could see two 6-8 episode seasons with longer runtimes. 20 Million per episode budget.

I don’t know that it’s “easily” enough content.

Like 90% of the story occurs over a period of 3 days.

I've seen this done before successfully. Hopefully, they leave out the gay/woke shite and focus on the story.

****SPOILERS*****

3 Days featuring 2 entirely separate perspectives each with large flashbacks featured in both, major secondary characters introduced in each. 3 large factions with a complex history(WLF, Seraphites, Wyoming). Then a whole time progression and final act that also adds a 4th faction(Rattlers). With some huge set pieces and sequences sliced in: Aquarium, Museum, Theater, Boat fight, Jesse/Ellie car chase, Island escape, Rattler Compound, Arcade, 2 Ellie/Abby Fights, WLF/Joel sequence

Assuming you rush through and add nothing, you could speed-run it by doing 1 episode to get to Joel's death, 3 days for each perspective, and then 1 episode for the first confrontation than 1 episode for the flash forward and final sequence. You'd likely leave out a lot of background stuff, but you could do it, I guess.

But that feels like a 25 million an episode show to do right, or, a major cut back on the events.

Give me 2 seasons to flesh out the world.

The people whining about season 1, clearly this adaption isn't for you, so why continue?

I'm hoping they take the chance to rectify that decision the game made. Completely ruined it for me and prolly the biggest reason I haven't watched the show yet.
