No, it was quite easy.

Nope
I never read any of them and it’s a great movie series.
I appreciate how they don’t push the cutesy shite that Star Wars has to pander to in every single movie

Anakin has a clear and defined character arch that’s efficiently told by Lucas without giving too much away.
And the dialogue as well as the actors for this character were just about the worst execution that could have possibly happened. In all three of the prequels.

As well as saying "you have to read the books to understand it" which is also not true. I'm willing to bet 99% of people who have watched the movies have not read the books or least not till after they've seen the films.
I saw 1 and 2 having never read the books. Waiting for ROTK to come out, I started with The Hobbit and banged through all the books. Having read the books is a double-edged sword, because now you see where they departed from the story, which can actually make it less enjoyable, depending on your nerd level.
Basically, the exact opposite of OP's point.

216 downvotes has put him in contention as the worst thread on the movie and tv board in 2026?

It's like saying Jaws was Richard Dreyfuss' worst performance, he was much better as Freddy Kruger in He's Got Game.

[quote]It’s just that the story is very complex and convoluted at times.[/]
Or maybe….and just hear me out right now, it’s not all that complex and it’s very probable that you just weren’t intelligent enough to understand it.
It’s a great story, with tremendous world building and characters portrayed by some very gifted actors. Shouldn’t be hard to understand why they are so popular.
I hate the movie Titanic personally but I can understand why it was so popular.

I never read the books until after I saw the movies. I understood it fine.
Maybe this is a you problem. I'm sorry there weren't enough explosions and F-bombs for your brain to follow the story.

I hadn't read a single page of Tolkein when I went to see Fellowship of the Ring in theaters back in December 2001. Even at the tender young age of 14, I perfectly understood the plot. To this day I haven't gotten through the books fully and I still understood what was going on in Two Towers and Return of the King when I went to see them in theaters in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
The Extended Editions make the films even more easy to understand. Perhaps the problem is with you?

I never watched the original SW trilogy growing up. I'm in my early 40s. Went back and watched it a few years ago. Let down. They were "okay" IMO.

Not reading this thread, but has anybody made any references to Clerks 2 yet?

Yup.....a talking trash can and a mute bigfoot. Starwars is the bestest.

I didn't read the books and I felt it was very easy to follow. That's a bizarre take.

You should be banned for this. Stupidest thing I read all day.

It's the greatest movie and trilogy of all time and its not up for debate
