I had heard Brando was but didn't know anything about Newman. If it's not true then that's messed up on Brando's part for saying it.

On the salary list you'll see Brando had a piece of the gross of GODFATHER. He wound up losing that for some $50,000 bill being paid and some cash... then fired EVERYONE for giving him shitty advice. Cost him millions.
It's about 50/50 (or more) every actor you know of is gay/bisexual. Who was in theater class when you went to high school?

I'm skeptical of a lot of this. There's been a big effort under way to portray lot of classic stars as gay or bi mostly based solely on rumors and innuendo. Not saying some of them weren't just not as many as they would like you to believe.

Well, Brando admits to being bi.
There are friends of James Dean that supported him financially that say he was bi and they footed his bills until he made it.
If you've read biographies you'd recognize most of the names on that list.
But I don't want to spoil your film fandom so believe what you want. Just stay away from reading about Hollywood history and Hollywood for that matter.

Newman was bisexual. Had a few flings with a friend of mine's father. Doesn't change anything about the man or the actor he was. Just adds another layer. Joanne Woodward knew and they had a great relationship although later in life he remained true to her and their marriage.

Newman was a great actor and set up a charity that has helped raise millions many time over.
Sure a lot of the current stars will come out of the closet at some point after their actors careers are nearly over. Kelly McGillis came out.
