Well actually... if that's the impression you got, then that's probably the right impression. That sort of transformation is basically what happens in the book. He'd had extraordinary training all his life with regards to combat and nobility, but he was also coddled and cared for with utmost elite consideration. It wasn't until he got to Arrakis that he finally had to deal with some of the realities of world, and eventually had to get into his first true fight, and then learn to be leader, and so on....

Didn’t Gambon become Dumbledore because Richard Harris died?
I agree he was better but I wouldn’t call it a miscast when it was due to the first guy being dead.

Disagree, this was a "color-blind" casting I did not mind. Idris was the right age and can play a grizzled badass in his sleep. Short of time-traveling 1970s Clint, I was happy with the choice. The movie was bad, however, for many non-Idris reasons. Should've been a prestige series on HBO.

Whoever that transvestite they hired to be the Flash.

Lots of good answers most I agree with, so I'll add Shelley Duvall in The Shining - she was so annoying that I actually WANTED Jack to kill her.
Oh and speaking of annoying, I wouldn't say miscast but Dakota Fanning in Spielbergs War of the Worlds need to be punched in the throat, duct taped and tossed in the trunk

Joker got a lot of crap but I loved it. So excited for the sequel then as soon as she was announced I lost every bit of that. She's an amazing musical artist but she's just unwatchable on screen for me

Princess Leia Organa: Carrie Fischer. Always thought they could have done a lot better than Carrie. Maybe not a mis-cast, but a "could have done better cast."
