Is this the movie that the sexist female director was supposed to make? The video that was making the rounds the last few weeks of her saying that she wanted to make men uncomfortable?

Translation: Kathy Kennedy made all these announcements and we were never going to greenlight them anyway. She's just trolling at this point as she finishes out her contract.

We already had 3 Rey movies.

What else is there to tell?

She is super powerful and can do almost anything with the force. There is no suspense or drama here.

They tried so hard to make Rey the new Star Wars and the thing that will make Star Wars into a Girl thing too and for the most part it failed miserably. Girls who were not already interested in Star Wars did not identify with Rey. The story was terrible and well, any new one would be too. The first two seasons of the Mandalorian, however, did bring a ton of both genders into Star Wars. Amazing how that works.

Not just Star Wars, Disney made MCU go hard after women and that failed miserably as well.

Wow, you mean the script that had Rey being impregnated by Kylo's force ghost didn't go over well?

Surprise face.

Still amazed at how some folks in the movie business want to use a space fantasy /action movie and a conduit to make statements on perceived social injustices. It’s even more amazing that corporate executives allow them to do so in a manner that changes the “formula” of a trillion dollar property. Mark Hamill tells a funny story that took place during early production of ANH. He came from a dramatic acting background and was unsure of how to play Luke. He asked H Ford if he should play Luke a certain way. Ford looked at him and said “it ain’t that kind of movie kid”. This franchise has always been a movie to entertain fans , not a dramatic masterpiece or social statement. I guess they didn’t learn from losing 40% of their stock value in the last 2 years.
