To me, and my late night, "B-grade & Below" movie tastes, Corman is King and is the most legendary Movie Man of all time. He gave us Dick Miller!

Phenomenal dude, phenomenal career. I don't know what else to say right now.

AP: Roger Corman, Hollywood Mentor and "King of the B's" dead at 98

James Cameron was art and effects hand in the early 80s for Corman.

I scored two projects for Roger. The first was his only television series, Black Scorpion. It was my first big project. The second was The Phantom Eye for AMC’s MonsterFest. Roger starred as Dr. Gorman. Roger was just as you see him in interviews, the demeanor, the voice. At once legendary and avuncular.

Godspeed Roger. And thank you for the opportunities.

LEGEND - rip

The 2011 doc on him is pretty good. Would like to see the figures he made on some of those shot-in-a-day films adjusted for inflation. He sold one company in the 80s for like 16 million, so he must have been making bank.

best thing Corman did was let most of his films lapse into the public domain

which freed them up for additional creative purposes

AFAIK he did not own the AIP movies

He was merely an employee of Arkoff & Nicholson

the one doing most of the talking is William Bowers, screenwriter of Support Your Local Sheriff

Why Coppola cast him I have no clue

Weirder trivia: one of the FBI agents guarding Pentangeli is played by Mushy from Rawhide

Also gave Burt Convy his big break and then Dick Miller split his scull with a flat skillet and immortalized him by covering his head with clay.

I wonder if that prop is floating around somewhere?
