While joining Shannon Sharpe’s show Club Shay Shay, Young Fly revealed that Friday co-star Chris Tucker would only be willing to return to the franchise if the comedian signed on to play the son of his beloved character, Smokey.
“Chris Tucker out his mouth told me...literally this year...He said if I play his son, he’ll be in the movie,” DC Young Fly explained in the clip above. “I promise you, out his mouth, this is what he said to me. He said: If you play my son, I’ll be in the movie.”

I thought i heard that Cube screwed him over and only made around $5k for his roll as smoke dog. Johnny Witherspoon is dead and i don’t think even bringing tucker back could revive that franchise. The last one made stank.

Terry Crews and Katt Williams could fill in for the Devo void.
Chris Tucker helps, obviously, but you can't replace John Witherspoon.
I also couldn't care less about Mike Epps. He never held a candle to Smokey. He's also annoying.
Phaizon Love is still around, too. You could always have a Big Perm scene.
That cast alone, however, would probably cost $15-20M of the budgetm

Not sure what it was but personally I couldn’t get into this one and haven’t seen any of the others. I really think not having Tucker as Smokey had a lot to do with it for me.

That's probably just something he said. I just don't believe finding the perfect guy to play his son is the deciding factor.
We been hearing it's coming forever. I'm sure Ice cube will make another one at some point. I would guess it's a flip of a coin whether Tucker will participate.
