Been looking forward to this one. Tucci is one of my favorite actors.

Note: This series is not airing in the order in which it was filmed. Two episodes, including last night's, were filmed after the start of COVID, in summer 2020. 4 were filmed in late 2019.

I guess the main thing I can say is that Tucci's show is similar to Bourdain's, without the arrogance and condescension.

He takes us to a few of his favorite haunts; we get a fried pizza (supposedly the original way they were made); a visit to a place that makes buffalo mozzarella; and he picks tomatoes in a field where San Marzanos are grown.

Most of the dishes shown were very simple and looked delicious AF. Anything with shaved Parmesan should be delicious AF .

I realize most of you would rather have hot needles under your fingernails than watch CNN, but this is a good show. Tucci is as comfortable in Italy as Bourdain ever was, and the charm that he brings to most of his acting roles comes through.

It's worth a watch.

Wife and I watched the Napoli/Amalfi episode this afternoon...good not great.

But will take any halfway decent content.

Bourdain’s CNN show was noticeably stuffier, but his Travel Channel show, No Reservations, was excellent. Check out the the episodes with Alice Cooper and the frontman for Queens of the Stone Age.

I loved it too, but Bourdain was a bit of an a-hole.

Instead of being paid by Pravda to tour Italy, Tucci should have given up his paycheck for the job to an indegenous transexxual Mexi-Zulu club foot midget who self identifies as a flounder, then tarred and feathered himself and then tried to inject melanin into his bodily pores.

Remember... He takes responsibility...

It’s still on CNN.

Parts Unknown had a few good episodes. I liked the Koreatown episode from season 1. It covered how the Koreans in Koreatown protected their businesses during the 1992 riots.

Now that I think about it, I liked that episode from 2015 when that guy in South Carolina got Bourdain to try out Waffle House and he liked it. And then they hung out with Bill Murray who admitted his favorite movie was Road House.

I guess I liked Parts Unknown more than I realized.

Bourdain was just too much of a prick for me to watch any of his shows longer than 2-3 minutes.

I do believe his passion for street food and what it represented about cultures around the world was authentic - something I would not say about a POS like David Chang who tried to rip off his entire ethos.

The only way I'm watching this is if Tucci stays in this character the whole time:

What is all this BS about Bourdain being a prick? Such nonsense. He genuinely connected with people and was fairly self-effacing.

That's what made the show great and interesting.

The only people that can say such a thing clearly didn't watch the series for more than an episode or segment.

I love Tucci but not enough to give CNN my ratings.

Yeah I read all that and just kept scrolling. I was deeply bothered back when bourdain passed. Like losing a close family friend

But clearly he affected others differently. which is fine

I actually like Gordon Ramsey’s “Uncharted” show on Nat Geo. I didn’t think it would be that good, but it is.

He is himself, and not the character he plays on the other shows.

Highly recommend it.
