Been waiting for this. Looks really interesting as they have both sides of the fight being interviewed.

Finished it. I thought it was very good. I liked having both perspectives of the events.

Now I want to rewatch Blackhawk Down

It was decent. I wish they would have more vets give different perspectives of the battle. I don’t really feel like I learned anything new.

18 people TOTAL survived the whole ordeal ffs

ETA: based on the replies, some of you should watch a few more documentaries on the subject

18 Americans were killed dude. There were probably 100-150 directly involved in the battle.

I think the initial numbers were like 120 Americans that entered the city and 18 killed.

I thought it was OK.

It made me mad like the movie did. I hate that our guys had to fight a whole city. They could have had a better planned operation, but that's easy for me to say.

I didn't know the Rangers were that inexperienced. I know the movie shows them being young, but it never registered to me in that way.

The Somalians living conditions are shite but they didn't seem to care. They followed a warlord and started to hate Americans.

The guys in the interviews seem like they could all still fight too. That day made them hard for the rest of their lives.

Just watched. I thought it was good. Makes me want to watch the movie over again. I thought having the Somali point of view made it far more interesting.

When I'm bored watching my normal shows, I get on MB and see what everyone is talking about. I watched Surviving BHD last night because of this thread and great recommendation. Really like that they give perspective to both sides of the fight.

Its curious seeing how we were in Somalia to give aid, and that morphed into us wanting to assonate Aidid and his commanding officers. Similar to today, most Americans (not talking government involvement) want the rest of the world to enjoy first world luxuries like we do, but the countries seem largely content playing in mud puddles and eating once a week. Then you have a badass trained fighting force who buy into the government's BS of "this guy is bad, go get him", then you realize our government can't make a right decision from beginning to end of the war/battle.

I enjoy these types of war documentaries.

I thought it was interesting how the one guy went from driving and making money off of the Americans to being radicalized by being treated like shite and beaten up by the airport guards.

The guy who was a warlord from the start, seems like a piece of shite who knew how to take advantage of the people like that driver or others who had family members killed.

The Delta Force guy Tom seems like he would wreck shop. It was cool hearing the young Rangers talking about being in awe of those guys.

Yeah, i had my doubts about this dude's story.

My biggest complaint is that the doc really glanced over Shughart and Gordon's actions. Those guys willingly and knowingly sacrificed their lives to rescue Durant, and we're only given about 20-30 seconds of that particular interaction. You'd figure that since both were posthumously awarded the MOH, then they'd spend a little more time on the actions they took that day.

I also have my doubts about the claims of women and kids being gunned down indiscriminately from the Somali's. Erratic fire from the skinny's probably killed more innocent people than the Rangers.

Would love to see a well done and authentic doc on Benghazi. The movie was great, but I'm sure there's more behind the story. With what has come out about the real story re: hillary and zero44, I'd love to see more exposed in a netflix doc.

SBHD was really good. Definitely think the skinnie's were embellishing abit, if not being a little dramatic. Like an old friend once told me, no good deed goes unpunished. Good young men died for a corrupt government that didn't know what they were doing.

.

Yeah, my BS meter was going off when they were saying walking to school and mom going to the market— at 1:30 in the afternoon- going into the hottest part of the day.

Dealing with gunfire and RPGs before they hit the ground doesn’t seem right- it’s like they knew they were coming to that spot.
