SURVIVORMAN Vs ALONE

I'm a fan of survivor themed shows as long as they aren't too "obviously" staged.
My favorite show has been "Alone" but somehow I've missed a show that I caught yesterday called "Survivorman" and noticed all seasons are on Amazon Prime Video for free if you have a Prime a account.
I'm watching season one right now and my wife and I are really enjoying it. He makes the week of surviving twice as hard by having to carry and operate cameras since he's alone for a week.
If you watch Bear Grylls and have a hard time putting up with is "sensationalizing" himself and a high degree of cheesy shots you may find Les Stroud more serious approach better.
Alone is still my favorite survival show, but Survivorman is a fun watch.

I've always been a Survivorman fan.
Alone is also a great show.

Les is the man. Beyond Survival was good too. The Sea Gypsies episode was really cool.

I think it's only the first season(which is really good) and the last couple when he went all "search for Big Foot."
Seasons 2-3 are not on Prime last time I checked.
Good Survivorman is really good. Rougarou/Swamp Ape Survivorman is bull shite.
Another show to check out is SOS: Will you Survive on TWC. Creek Stewart puts out good content.

Season 1 of Alone was greatness. Sadly, I missed out on any other seasons, but looking forward to the new one coming out in June.
Wife and I still make fun of the dude who survived everything until the end and then started freaking out about mold.

I have not seen all of them but of the ones I have seen(1, 2, and 6), 6 was the best.

I just check before posting this and Seasons 4, 5, 6, 7 and 101 (Survival Secrets) are on Prime and I guess the others or still for pay.
It's enough for now

My favorite episode of Alone is the first one.
Some dude sees Bear scat all over the place and is like frick this, I'm outta here.
Alone seems less staged then Bear Grylls; same with Survivorman but you never know.
It's all TV and corporations don't want to get sued.
I doulbt most are ever in any real danger but Alone pulls off the illusion the best.

Those were great.
I still prefer Les Stroud. He was out there filming and surviving.
Joe Rogan's podcast with him is great.

I love Survivorman but every time he takes out that harmonica I want him to get eaten

Survivorman is the OG.
Every other survival show is there b/c of him.
That being said, Alone is the best survival show hands down.
I wish Les would go on Alone.

at least some of Bear's shite is staged.
when he was filming in the swamps around Bayou Black, they fed the shite outta that gator for like a week or two before they filmed.
fricker was so fat and lethargic that he wasn't a threat to anything by the time filming rolled around.

That's why I have a hard time with Bear. He's all about staged filming so he can play up to the camera.
From what I'm seeing in Les so far, when he screws up it's shown on camera and he owns it which I appreciate as a cautionary tale.

I think Bear would be a good survivalist, but his show is not about survival, it's about entertainment.
There was another show a while back with two guys that was pretty decent. Dual Survival i think. It was alright. probably one of the better mixes of survival with made for tv, as the two were very opposite which made for drama.
