What a clickabity set the internet on fire type of list
Posted on 4/7/23 at 1:08 pm to RollTide1987
I think I have seen 3 on that list.

Just a bunch of the most acclaimed films of the past 20+ years.
Hard to many as controversial choices, unless you want "Best" to mean "most popular", or more likely "films I have personally seen and enjoyed."

Not only is the list a lot of movies I have not seen, but most are movies that I DO NOT WANT to see!

Where the frick is No Country?
The only thing this list gets credit for is that Crash is not on there, and that they have Zodiac so high.

A lot of climate change, lgbtq, and communist themes in there.

Caché (2005)
Never understood the love for this movie.
Roger Ebert gave it 4 stars, 89% RT, loved around Europe.
One review on RT got it right: "If I have to sit through French small talk in a slow-paced film for two hours, I expect a substantial payoff."

Totally agree with this but it actually surprises me it's this high. Thought this movie ended up being criticized of late seeing that it actually ended up being correct that in the future Americans actually ended up being fat and can't put down their electronics.

Black Panther (a movie I genuinely enjoy and have rewatched) on there over Iron Man or End Game/Infinity War lets me know how seriously to take this list.
I’m not going to be critical of foreign films I haven’t seen that being said:
LOLs:
call me by your name
power of the dog
Moonlight
Marriage Story
The Favourite
Good calls:
Parasite
Children of Men
Summer of Soul
Manchester by the Sea
Get Out
Zodiac

I can't even take it seriously without this. And Inside Llewyn Davis being their top Coen film and #2 at that?

Fair point. It means they're not straight hacks, but their list is still mostly shite.

These are better than 2/3 of their numbered list and TDK should, at a minimum, be Top 12 or thereabouts.

Wall-E is that high because it’s basically anti American and pro climate activist. It has no business being anywhere near the top, and that’s coming from someone who likes it

This list reads like The Hollywood Reporter is based out of S.F.
