The Sopranos - Closing Credits Music

David Chase and his crew did a masterful job of capturing the essence and mood of the Sopranos story with music. Especially as the credits rolled at the end of the episode, the songs selected would either capture the episode or set the tone for the stories to come.
What are your favorites? Mine are probably I Saved the World Today by the Eurythmics after Janice killed Richie, or Evidently Chickentown in Season 6 when Phil decideds it’s time to go to war with the Sopranos.
But those favorites change so often as there are so many classics here. Drop some below with your thoughts.

Evidently Chickentown definitely when Phil is raging inside and about to unleash hell.
Living On A Thin Line by The Kinks after Tony walks out of Janice’s house after fricking with her about Harpo at the dinner table.

Sad eyed lady of the Low Life in the opening scene of season 3 gives me chills every time. Rest of the song isn't that great though

The high level endings of Chase were the best/most impactful part of the entire series. They're still the best I've ever seen and probably ever will see.
Eveidently Chicken Town is way, way up there. Long Term Parking, where you only hear the airport sounds and they zoom out on Adraina's parked car is also so impactful and genius.
Probably the best, though, is "Join the Club" LINK.
I still think it's the best Sopranos epiosode of the entire series. The ending is poetry in motion.

The ending of Stage 5 (Evidently Chickentown) is one of the best things I've ever seen in a show. Chills every time. The music, Phil's rage, the photos on the wall, the dead look on the faces of Tony and Chris when they hug. Perfect scene.
"No more Butchie, no more of this"

Not a closing song but I kind of liked the Sinatra song they used to open season 2. That was pretty cool

That was "Im not like everybody else" wasn't it. I know they used both.

I always think of Keith Richards Thru and Thru(end of season 2) when I think of end of Sopranos episode songs. Beautiful.

The ending of “All Due Respect.” Van Morrison’s “Glad Tidings” plays when Tony escapes the FBI raid at Johnny Sacks by running through the snow and finally climbing into his own backyard. They also play it when he shoots Tony B in the same episode.

I still can't get over what a great show Sopranos was, only surpassed by Mad Men. Easily the best drama ever to come to the screen, small or large.
I would argue that Newsroom is very close in quality but it was also only three seasons long. That was a very conscious choice by Sorkin, it forced the show to be very tight and concise. IF you limit to just three seasons, you dont need nearly as much filler or writing. Would it have stood up over 6-7 seasons? Who knows.

Probably my favorite. I seem to recall another Van Morrison song or two.

Misty Eyes is in the first episode I think isn't it. David Chase is a huge Van fan and Van is a fan of the show. I think in the podcast he talked about meeting him in an elevator and van being Van. They both seem pretty similar in that they seem socially awkward.

Glad tidings was one of the best songs in the best episodes. Lyrically and figuratively. The entire soundtrack was good, I like the first season one with the Mazzy Star song.

Kid A - Radiohead in Season 4 Episode 2. Such an out of left field choice but it works so well

Living on a Thin Line was Tracee's theme and then the closing for that episode (University, S3E6) as a new girl takes her place at the Bing (IIRC).

They played "Gloria" during the "Pine Barrens" episode.

"World Destruction" by Johnny Rotten's band Time Zone in Episode 1, Season 4 is cool too.
It plays as Tony goes down for the paper, I think. And over the closing credits as the camera zooms in on the cash Chris left on his mom's fridge after he kills who he is told killed his father.
