The recent movie One Life with Anthony Hopkins made my husband tear up.

Tearing up and crying are two different things. There are lots of movies that make people tear up. Dumbo made me tear up.

To this day, when I hear the theme from Brian's Song, I tear up.

Cinderella Man tore me up pretty good in the theater.

No Hoosiers? WTF?

Anything with a dog passing or a son reconciling with his dad gets me every time.

And yeah, young Squatch was balling when ET died.

Speaking Anthony Hopkins. I'll throw "Remains of the Day" out there.

As others have said, that list is shite.

Where the red fern grows definitely needs to be on the list.

Also to your point I would add Frequency with Quaid/Caviezel.

I wonder were Shane would fall on this list. I haven’t seen it forever, but I remember being sad when he’s calling out for Shane and Shane slumps over.

19. Furious 7 (2015): the fact that they put a 7 movie on here is funny.

18. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006): jugeared ham playing a jugeared ham. Too bad this wasn't real life for him and son.

17. About Time (2013): never heard of it.

15. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982): thought that thing made it back to his planet, no?

10. It's a Wonderful Life (1946): again, happy ending to a long winding boring stupid story; i guess you could be sad that the old man didn't get his in the end.

2. Good Will Hunting (1997): never saw it but don't see it could make a man cry. Doesn't he get to go to college and nail the fat british chick?

shite list.

I absolutely love this movie. It's in my all-time Top 5, and I cry every time at the end.

Armageddon? ET? Rocky IV? Did people cry when Apollo died or something? The end of Cool Runnings put more of a lump in my throat than those movies ever did.

Of those three, only ET would even have a chance at tears IMHO.

I agree none of them really belong on the list.

I first saw this in class in elementary school.

You cannot convince me that my teacher was anything other than sadistic.

You never saw it but still have an opinion on how it can make people feel?

If I were to wager a guess, they're referring to the story Robin Williams' character tells Matt Damon's about the wife he lost.

Lonesome Dove gets me every time.

When Call puts his hand on Gus's forehand and whispers, " Augustus"..

Man, thinking about gets me a little bit...

All of this.

I'll add Simple Plan to this list, mainly for how bad I feel for Thornton at the end. Probably his best acting performance.

I know it gets made fun of a lot, but the "it's not your fault" scene, for anyone who's had experience with kids from trauma backgrounds, one of the biggest things you see with them is they almost always blame themselves for what happened to them. That scene hits hard.

It is the "It's not your fault" scene. We never seen the wife to form any emotional attachment plus they follow it with "it sure would have been nice to catch that game" banter right after.

Just because you haven't seen a movie doesn't disqualify it rom the list

It's been a while since I've seen it, but now that you and the above poster mention it, I do remember that moment. It's a really strong one.

4. Brian's Song (1971)

3. Saving Private Ryan (1998)

1. Field of Dreams (1989)

Above are the ones from their list that could make men cry.

My dad coached my little league team. It wasn't fun playing for him. I bought a copy of Field of Dreams and sent it to him with a note thanking him for teaching me the game.. He never said anything about it to me except to say he did get the VCR. Hopefully Amy Madigan being the wife didn't ruin the movie fro him. Even though she let him build the field, she was hard to put up with in that movie..

I would bet Old Yeller and Where the Red Fern grows have made more men cry than any of the one's they listed. They turned the lights on too soon after Where the Red Fern Grows when I saw it in the theater. I was 15 and got caught crying. They turned the lights on before I could wipe my eyes.

The following scene from Remember the Titans had me close to crying in the theater.

quote:

Nurse : Only kin's allowed in here.

Bertier : Alice, are you blind? Don't you see the family resemblance? That's my brother.
