I have never read the books and saw the movie this weekend
It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. MM was horrible in it though.

Wasn't bad.
Spoilers to the books and movie below
Spoilers below you guys
If this is truly a "sequel" to the books, how many cycles do y'all think it took Roland to get to this point?
Also did I miss the Horn of Eld? Thought it was gonna play a part.

When the box office comes in and they start making the second one, I'll be happy.
Yeah . . . 19 million ain't gonna do it. It's probably toast.
Let's get a better cast, a better script, and do this thing again in about 10 years. Better yet, take many of the tied-together King stories and beg HBO to make them. First task - find a Eastwood-type guy to be the Gunslinger.

You need to take control of your persona. Most posters here are anonymous by design for security reasons if for no other reason. You could role-play a different personality every month if you choose. In other words don't take yourself or the environment on this or any other message board too seriously.

Watched it yesterday and have not read the book.
The wife and I didn't like it. I had hoped that the negative reviews were mostly from book readers which I have to come to expect, but it really is not good. I belive with a different director maybe this film had a chance.
Idris was solid, but MM didn't come across to me very well. Lines felt forced and contrived
There were some parts during the action scenes that moved so fast we couldn't make out what we were seeing.
I really wanted to like this movie, but it just missed the mark.

I've only read the first 2 or 3 books, a very long time ago, so I'm no expert on the Man in Black's personality, but MM doesn't seem heavy enough to me. Ed Harris' character in West World is closer to how I would picture RF or the Man in Black..brooding, with a crazy grin as opposed to a Hollywood handsome smirk.

Saw this tonight. I've never seen Battlefield Earth, but I'm guessing it's on the same level as The Dark Tower.
They just threw a bunch of exposition at the audience and then went about a paint by numbers S. King movie.
My wife is a huge King fan, so she at least got something out of it, but even she thought it was stupid.

You can like the movie. It might not even be that bad but this statement is just fricking stupid.
