True Detective: Filming Locations

One of the most interesting aspects of True Detective for me is the beautiful scenery. Whoever scouted the filming locations for this series is a damn genius and I'm surprised there hasn't been an Advocate or other news article talking about where all they filmed - IMDB just says "New Orleans." I have been in and around Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes a good bit and I haven't recognized many locations at all.
The only places I recognize:
- the overhead shot of Causeway & Airline Hwy in Metairie.
- Rust driving down what appears to be Earhart while having hallucinations.
- the inside of Bridge Lounge when Maggie tries to pick up a stranger.
- an inside the car shot of Rust & Marty driving down Judge Perez drive.
Does anyone have any insight of more of their locations?

The crawfish boiling room/shed in the back of Mandeville/French Market Seafood.
I'm pretty sure the church where they go, and the preahcer asks about the cats, is a church in Old Mandeville on like Villere St.

They were down around Abbeyville for a lot of the country scenes.
All of the scenes with just them in the car were done in a studio.

I think it was the last episode (?) where Marty was at Elmwood shopping center off of clearview. That's where he went to the cell phone store and then The Fox and Hound where he met his second affair. That's right around the area where I grew up.

I'm pretty sure some of it was shot south of Lake Charles in the Hackberry area

when were they at Rivershack?
i've noticed all in the OP, and then random interstate shots in NOLA, along with the Fox and Hound/Elmwood scene

only because they filmed it in LA.....
i swear, a large chunk of you guys are just homers buying into the hype. The show is very good, but not the GOAT like the posts on here would lead one to believe.

I'm wondering this as well. I didn't notice it.

I'm pretty sure Tuttle's house that Rust broke in to last episode is a prominent one on St. Charles. It's pretty recognizable with the granite stairs leading up to the house.

Yes but my point is they're not throwing it in your face. There's no French Quarter scenes, and the only shot that shows anything recognizable in Baton Rouge is showing the Capitol through a window. It's very different from most movies/shows shot in Louisiana.

I don't think so. The story telling had me hooked in the first 10 minutes. I read an interview with the director where he said they considered South Carolina and Missouri before settling on Louisiana - I'm sure that would have made some difference to me but not a whole lot.
My favorite moment of Episode 7 was when the Sheriff was driving a Maserati - a clear nod to the Terrebone Parish Sheriff who got in some hot water for continuing to drive the exact same confiscated Maserati LINK

Right. Owned by "infamous" lawyer John Haughtaling.
