Was Forrest Jr really Forrest Gump's son?

I don't recall a discussion on this board about this. Watching some of Forrest Gump right now and I always get to feeling like that bitch got diagnosed with the AIDS and saw a perfect opportunity to dump HJO off on a slow guy that would take care of him well. As far as we know, she banged the cab driver as payment for picking her up the last time she was with Forrest.

Well I'm not 100% sure.
In the original Book,Forrest Gump,Jenny does't die of aids and I don't believe they had a child.
The Book "Gump and Company" that was written after the Movie,Forrest and Forrest,Jr. have all kinds of adventures.
So I'm not sure.
