I feel like I was on a roll with the best decade of song so why not come here? I wasn't born til 80' so I couldn't appreciate the 80's like I could have...but I know all the classics...the Goonies, stand by me.so on..So that's my answer.... what about you?

It's between the 70s and the 90s. A lot of Gen X types will tell you the 80s but 1994 and 1999 alone had better movies than much of the 80s combined.

And that would be me.
But the question is totally unanswerable.

All decades have some great movies, except maybe the last decade.
But...rewatchability and fun?
Some call it a crap, over-the-top decade of Cinema... But at least they weren't boring.
To name a few...

It's not Godfather or Lawrence of Arabia but it's probably the decade closest to Drive-In Cinema without being Drive-In Cinema, if you know what I mean.
So best? Not, in terms of skill and craft...But the most entertaining decade in movies is the 80s.
Can you name every movie in this Collage?

I bet most can...which makes the decade special.

If you want to call it a decade I would say 1976 - 1985 was pretty awesome. Animal House, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Airplane!.

Tough question. Anyone saying 70s, 80s, or 90s has a good point. I would go with 70s since it is also the best decade for music. How far down the list is 2010's?

They keep remaking 80s movies, so that’s my answer

I think for me the answer is the decade in which a broader scope of movies had appeal to me. In my early 20s I could go to just about any movie and have a good chance to think that it was great. As I get older more and more movies seem dumb so finding one that I actually like is like finding a needle in a haystack. So the '90s would be my sweet spot.

1994 was the best year for Movies. 80s might take the cake for best decade.

Probably a tie between the 60's and 90's for me.
Two of the 3 greatest movies of all time were in the 70's but overall I think the 70's were pretty weak comparable to other decades.

This decade has some damn good movies. So much more money in these Hulu, Amazon, Netflix original independent films that help get less popular scripts produced that become critically acclaimed. That wouldn’t happen in the 80’s with to theater ticket sales a driving force with video rentals mainly coming after theater releases at the time.

70s auteur film era puts it over the top.

The 1940's or 1970's for me.
The 40's had Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Double Indemnity, The Third Man, The Grapes of Wrath, It's a Wonderful Life, The Maltese Falcon, Notorious, etc
The 70's had Taxi Driver, The French Connection, Star Wars, Jaws, Sorceror, Rocky, The Godfather 1 and 2, Chinatown, Apocalypse Now, American Graffiti, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Last Picture Show, Dirty Harry, etc.

I had to sit through this recently. I thought it was laughably, horribly bad. Am I missing something?

The 70’s for me. I’m 55 and it was just in my wheelhouse.

80’s
For John Hughes alone

I'd estimate the 70s and 90s combine for 70% of my top 50 list. There were so many great films made in those decades.
