What was the point of Walter White Jr having cerebral palsy?

Doing a rewatch of breaking bad, and the kid is outright annoying. What was the point of using him over just a regular kid? I guess I never got the connection of that to the overall plot.

maybe to make the white family more sympathetic as walt turns into the bad guy

Walter’s fricked up kid adds to his free fall. If he dies, who takes care of his whore wife and broken kid?

He is motivation for Walter Sr. Making him disabled increases the empathy that you have for Walters decision to dive into a life of crime.

What is the point of fricking anything?

This is the right answer. It's a script writing shortcut. You make a character young, female, crippled, or a cute animal and the viewer will naturally want to protect it and presume the same motivation for the protagonist.
There's actually a script writing book called "Save the Cat!" that encourages writers who want to sell in Hollywood to use these methods cause Hollywood loves lazy writing.

Simply put, economic pressure on Walt both before and after diagnosis.
He was teaching and moonlighting at a car wash to provide for his family and the costs of that were dramatically higher than normal because Walt Jr had CP.
Post-diagnosis, it meant that whatever nest egg he wanted to leave for the family would have to be larger than normal because Walt Jr’s medical issues would continue tearing through it.

His son's condition makes him more desperate and more likely to do crazy things to try to provide for his family initially.
Big boy pants cost a lot.

What was the point of Walter White Jr. eating breakfast in 90 percent of his scenes?

I think it was to illustrate how absolutely nothing broke walt's way....Even reproduction.

a friend of Vince Gillian has a son with CP and did it as a tribute to him if Im not mistaken.

Worth mentioning that the actor playing the character has CP as well.

Because he spent years perfecting his craft at the Brad Pitt school of acting and Vince allowed him to shine.

That could've actually been interesting if he was sort of a dick and didn't respect walt. Maybe if he thought of walt as a nerdy, underachieving puss. And then of course walt evolves into the gangster he became.
For me that would've been better than the son he had. Every episode that spent too much time on walt's family was shitty and dull. Maybe a dick son could've mixed it up a little better and made his domestic life a little more compelling.
