Abandoned as a girl, Kya raised herself in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina.

For years, rumors of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community.

Drawn to two young men from town, she opens herself to a new and startling world.

However, when one of them is found dead, Kya immediately becomes the main suspect.

As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal many secrets.

Watching it now, it's flows smooth well made movie.

There’s a strong female character in the lead role, so this board will complain and tell you it’s inherently awful without actually having watched the film.

I want to see why someone is a strong character..like Ellen Ripley or The Bride. I'm sorry I just don't accept Rey or whoever the frick as a strong female character because I was told I had to and if I didn't I was a misogynist

Saw it in theaters with my wife. Was ok, but she liked it better than I. She says it was a really good book.

I was shocked the first 2 times we went to see it, it was completely sold out, and that was on a Monday or Tuesday night. Apparently a lot of women read that book.

Yeah, first 10 min I was excited about the production value and story and the rest of the movie I realized I was the only non 16 y/o girl watching it.

I’ll watch almost anything with a hot chick. Hot IRL or hot in the movie. Doesn’t matter.

I started the thread when I saw it in theaters. Had no idea what I was going to see when I went. Wife dragged me cuz she had read the book along with all the other women in my family.

Like I said back then, for it being a “chick flick” I really enjoyed it. It’s more of a murder mystery thriller than chick flick but you wouldn’t gather that from the movie theater demographics

I let my wife know I saw it was on Netflix and we rewatched it last week. Solid movie.
