Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War 6 part doc on Netflix

A new documentary that starts with the leadup to the OK corral shootout and follows it through to Wyatt and Ike Clanton's final encounter.
I watched into the third episode last night and I thought it was good. Learned some things I didn't know. There have to be some liberties taken regarding some of the encounters/discussions but I still think it is well worth a watch. Run time is just under 4 hours, narrated by Ed Harris.

Almost started a thread on this earlier today. I watched the first three episodes as well.
Love me some Tombstone and Wyatt Earp so I had this one ready to go as soon as it came out. I like the Docudrama aspect of it. You get a truer account but also a little acting involved.
Kind of let's you know what most people already knew, that Wyatt Earp is a little more historically accurate than Tombstone. Tombstone plays down the role Ike had and dumbed his character down, when in reality he was the ring leader. Surprised as well how little actually led up to the shootout. The time that passed between Wyatt not paying Ike the 6k for turning on his man and the time the shootout took place, was only like a day. There didn't seem to be nearly as much bad blood there than I would have expected.

Interesting series. Seen Wyatt Earp and Tombstone, but it's been years. Sheriff Behan and Ike Clanton were some real asses. The Earps snd Doc were very close to being convicted of murder, didn't realize that.

I really enjoyed the series. Anyone else find the JP Morgan connection a little puzzling? I am sure there is some validity to it but it just didn't really fit into he show. IMO

Watched the whole thing in a couple days. Enjoyed it, but I just couldn’t get the Ike from Tombstone out of my head

Watched it last week. Good to see a more accurate history of those events and the influence it had across the country.
Just be warned to those about to watch that Tombstone is definitely more entertaining with big payoffs. True life kind of whimpers out without hollywood endings.

Has anyone been to the actual site?
It's about an hour south of Tucson off a two lane highway.
The "OK Corral" where the shootout occurred is a small space. Maybe half or less of what is shown in the movie. It's surprising anyone walked out of there alive.
I was working a job down by the border years back and we were staying in Tucson. We had been there on and off for a couple of months and were coming back from down south one night really late. 2:00 AM kind of late. My buddy pulled off at Tombstone and I asked "What are you doing?" and he said "Trust me." He parked the rental car right off main street, went in the trunk and came back with two cowboy hats. Handed me one and said "let's go." We went and walked up and down Main Street in cowboy hats in the middle of the night. It was much funnier than it sounds now that I write it down. I just wish he had a couple of six shooters we could have stuck in our belts.

Find it funny they cast a guy that looks a lot like Michael Biehn (Johnny Ringo) to play Wyatt

Its also hilarious every time they throw that random scene from Brisco County Jr in there as if it's just part of the docuseries

Morgan wanted the silver and the railroads, and needed for the “WILD WEST” reputation to end to encourage foreign investors.
McKinley was assassinated, and puppet Chester Arthur was used to pass executive orders to clean up the Cowboy Gang threat to a peaceful environment.
Conspiracy theory? Perhaps.

That was a pretty good series. A lot more was going on than I realized so thanks to the OP for suggesting it.

Am I crazy or did they also use clips of battle scenes from Glory when they referred to the civil war a few times?

Crazy how much of a bitch Ike Clanton looks like, he runs from the OK fight where his brother and friends die. After running his mouth about killing the Earps. Sneaks up on people at night to gun them down, runs away from the train confrontation.
Gets lucky with his trial for murder, just all around piece of shite

I’ve been.
Only one original building remains on the main street - the Birdcage. It’s an old saloon, whorehouse, and gambling parlor. They charge a fee for entry, but it’s worth it. The dry climate did a great job of preserving the structure and the owners seem to have never dusted or cleaned the place other than to install a sprinkler system in the even of a fire.
The rest of everything else seems like it’s a movie set selling a lot of crap for tourists.

Good docuseries. Learned some things I did not know, would recommend. While Tombstone is a great film, you will learn about things that did and did not actually happen.
