I know I am biased, because I turned 13 in 1984 and I was at a very impressionable age, however, so many classics released in this year have truly stood the test of time. If you disagree, what year in your opinion is better and why?
Just think about these great albums:
Prince & the Revolution- Purple Rain
Van Halen- 1984
Huey Lewis & the News- Sports
Footloose- Soundtrack
Lionel Richie- Can't Slow Down
Billy Joel- An Innocent Man
ZZ Top- Eliminator
The Police- Synchronicity
And these top 100 songs:
1 "When Doves Cry" Prince
2 "What's Love Got to Do with It" Tina Turner

Smashing Pumpkins - Gish
I just listened to this yesterday LOL, saw them live before they got popular , during the show, the band had a sound system issue and a bunch of us went to the lobby to smoke, and I see Billy Corgan leaned up against the wall so I went over a stood next to him and chatted for a few, really cool guy. Gish is loaded with great songs.

That's pretty bad and close to downright awful. So many better years, even within the 80s.

Great summer. I was 12. Went skinny-dipping with a few of the neighborhood girls. So many of these songs bring me right back to that summer, including one that's not on your list

Thanks
I had all but forgotten how bad music in the 80's really was.
ie: didn't notice anything on (OPies) list that I'd have on any playlist today.

I would say any year from the late 60's to early 70's, with 1971 being damn strong.
And of course, I was 13.
