Is Alter Bridge underappreciated?

I went see them in Biloxi Friday night. They were incredible. Didn't miss a note, and Myles Kennedy is the real deal as a singer. When Mark Tremonti sang lead for "Waters Rising," I was surprised at how good of a vocalist he can be. Not to mention he can shred on the guitar.
I don't understand why this band isn't bigger in the US. They can sell out the biggest stadiums in Europe, like Wembley, but can't even sell out the Hard Rock in Biloxi. I know they were Creed with a new singer when they first started, but the comparison between the two is night and day.

Just not a fan of their sound.

I HATED Creed but these guys with Myles Kennedy are extremely underrated. People in the States have no idea how big they are in Europe.

They don't rip off Led Zeppelin enough.

Something something Greta Van Fleet.

A lot of people hate traditional songwriting and song structure in the hard rock/heavy metal genre. Especially if it veers towards ballad or soaring choruses. It’s the predictability of it - and the distance away it is from gritty, roots music. Those kind of people don’t like Alter Bridge .
I have always been a fan . Of course I am not hyper- critical of anybody who creates and lays it on the line- in any genre. And Alter Bridge does that, they are technically brilliant, have a really great emotional range in concert, and are really good guys on top of that. And man, do they have some great songs that can stand up there with the best of the genre. Myles and Mark are both rare talents and they really compliment each other . Of course if you hate the genre- you hate this band . The Creed hate is just being lazy and dismissive.

What 3-5 songs would you recommend to someone?

I’d start with the Blackbird album and go from there . Their most iconic song is Blackbird ( just watch a live video on YouTube) and the most accessible is probably Rise Today . They got harder metal generally as they went along . Depends on what you like . Good band . They make my top 20 live band list .

Absolutely. Most people just write them off as just another Creed band.

Blackbird is the best album that they will ever put out. I hate saying that knowing what they are capable of, but Blackbird is in another league from the rest of their albums. The rest are solid though.

I actually prefer Fortress.

Fortress is a killer album. Like I said, they are all good. The only album I have trouble believing as someone's favorite is One Day Remains. Good album, but it's their weakest.

One Day Remains is great for a new listener to start on. I was also a little disappointed in The Last Hero. Good album, but not quite on the level of Blackbird, ABIII, Fortress.
