One of the best debut albums ever released. Ten is a masterpiece from top to bottom. I remember from first listen I knew it was special and it still feels the same way all these years later.
Pearl Jam could never match or top it. It will always be their best. Although VS. is a very very close 2nd.
Once
Why Go
Black
Oceans
Porch

I think Black has and will go down as their most Iconic and beautiful song.

In my top 5 albums of all time

On this same day in 1996 they released their fourth album No Code
Some of my favorites
Hail Hail
Smile
Off He Goes
Present Tense

Great album.

They put out the odd good song after that, but this was the last era I saw them as a top level band.

They had already played for years as musicians with other bands. Green River and Mother Love Bone. Those core 4 guys had a lifetime of riffs and Vedders life of lyrics to put together.

I think they had got all of their stinkers out of the way. And they knew how good what they put out needed to sound. To hold up to Seattle.

Who wrote the riffs for Alive and eEvenflow? Was it Stone or Mike? Alive’s guitar intro is the sound of Seattle for most people. It was perfect IMO. Not too punk and not too metal.

Stone wrote the music for the majority of ten.

The fact that that argument can be made shows how good and underrated Vs. is.

Vs., Purple, and Dirt are 3 amazing Sophmore efforts.

The book Everybody Loves Our Band is a good account of that time.

I first heard the album in spring of 92 at a friend's apartment in Plantation Trace. Blew me away

I remember just being floored at how many smash hits were on this album.

As I'm sure many of you know, the album's name is Mooki Blaylock's jersey number, and "Mooki Blaylock" was the name of the band before they changed it to Pearl Jam.

Started college then in fall 91. So much great music was being pumped out after the hair band 80s experience. It was a great time. ‘Black’ was a panty dropper song too.
