Motherfricker. I was pumped. I’m guessing ticket sales were low. He’s probably more of a large bar/small theatre draw these days.

Got an email the other day from his mailing list saying exactly that. They are wanting to play smaller venues for this tour. Pretty shitty though to cancel for that reason. Just don't schedule future dates at those places.

This is how i know we are in recession

No way sturgill can't sell out the Wharf in a good economy.

Sturgill pissed us off with the last show he did at the Wharf back after Sailor's Guide album.

He fired most of his band during the holidays and came back for that one off show with just him, drums, bass. He played less than 90 minutes, didn't want to be there and it showed.

Now he's doing 4 hour shows playing 50 songs.

Love the music but giant douche, IMHO.

Yeah I was there and it wasn't great. I had seen him before and really enjoyed it

Tuesday night was a weird night given it's early April and not the summertime. I would have tried to make it on a weekend.

Guy on Dallas radio just gave a review after seeing him Saturday at an Oklahoma casino

He said it was over three hours straight. It was a 3 hour straight jam band and reminded him of the Grateful Dead concert.

I looked at the set list and he played 16 cover songs out of 31

No thanks

I was worried he was going to cancel Southaven MS(Memphis). I have PIT tickets and it hasn’t sold well at all.

I love a lot of his music, but dude can absolutely nail a cover. I would go see him do only covers TBH

I love his music. But more and more it’s apparent he’s a selfish prick. Which is good for making music cause he does what the frick he wants regardless.

I mean the dude made an album about how much he loves his kid and misses him on the road……then a few years later abandons his family and travels Europe cause life got too hard for him.

Sounds like the Sturgill show I saw in Duluth back in October.

It was amazing.

Note: not a Dead fan.

I'm not a big fan, so I haven't followed him, but he was the hottest thing going just a few months ago when he started touring. He was everywhere.

What happened?

I posted the audio of the show I saw in Cancun in January a while back. It was the best live rock show I can remember seeing, the dead included. Honestly if you don’t like his current show you don’t like guitar music

nothing happened. He was gone and now he’s back. The hype was all external. He is never going to draw the huge Alan Jackson-like country crowds because that’s not his show. And he doesn’t put on an arena show anyway it’s just him and the band and a couple smoke machines…no big light show and no video graphics. Just the music and not much else

If he's canceling shows that he scheduled, then this appears false.

His songs are great live and his covers are top shelf versions of great songs.

Like Turnpike Troubadours, Black Keys, and some other bands, recently, his team booked venues that were too big, thinking there was larger demand for than there actually was.
