What do you guys think of people who only listen to rap/hip hop?

My nephew is one of those teenagers who only listens to that rap garbage with its simple beats and inaudible verses. I believe that music is for thugs and high school dropouts. I bet most of you guys agree?

I respect their ability to decide what music they enjoy, but i make fun of them in my mind/behind their back.

I think you are too far gone from that age to remember all the dumb things you did.
FWIW there's nothing wrong with rap. I like a lot of rap but there are some terrible rap artists too, as with all genres.

You see, I have been enlightened by the Jam Band boys that not all that listen to that genre are hippies, trustifarians or dope smoking morons... some are indeed young urban professionals!

I listen to only rap/hip hop and I'm not a thug or a drop out. I just like the music, what's wrong with that?

The title of the thread implies criticism of listening only to hip hop, but then the OP criticizes the genre itself.
The belief that hip hop is only for thugs/losers is stupid, but I agree that listening to only one genre of music is lame. The world is so rich with awesome music to discover that I have to conclude that people who only listen to one genre are not really into music, but use it to try to find a sense of identity.

I think that anyone who listens to just one genre of music is missing out big time, regardless of that genre.
That being said, people that only listen to rap haven't always been the brightest people I've ever met. Just saying...
