They get them confused with Ween. And so when they see them they get confused and are dissapointed because Ween is better and they feel ripped off and Jesus....how long does he noodle......for.

I like them for what they are but they aren’t anything special or noteworthy. Blue album was good

People hate them?

Me and my group of friends go see them every time they come in town

They aren’t what they were in the 90s but they’ve made some good albums. Their latest song is very good. End of the Game.

Is Weezer really a band people like to hate? It seems you;re either a big fan or you just don't bother to listen to them.

I don’t know anyone that hates them. Their first two albums are two of the greatest of the 90s and they’ve put out some pretty good stuff the last 5 years or so.

I’ve still never seen them. On my bucket list.

I love Blue, but never understood the appeal or cult-like fascination with Pinkerton.

Everything after is just meh. They’re underrated as a cover band.

They did two really great albums then took a hiatus and never were quite the same. Maybe that break had an effect or not but they couldn't/didn't become a great group.

A lot of internet contrarians have the opinion that Weezer only put out one or two good albums in the 90's and then have basically spent the next 20 years being a Weezer cover band with poppy songs that didn't have the same appeal.

Bands that are around for more than 10 years often are in a bit of a catch 22 situation with music fans. If they don't change enough, they will be derided for being formulaic, phoning it in, and for "making the same song over and over again". If they change too much, they will be accused of "betraying their fans", "selling out", or "forgetting their roots". It's a difficult line that all successful artists must walk when trying to maintain that success and create new content.

I liked them in the '90s but haven't followed much of their stuff since then. There was an SNL skit recently about Weezer that was sort of funny and more or less sums up this thread.

To all those that gave up on this band after blue and pinkerton, go give "Everything Will Be Alright in the End" a listen - here. It was a return to form with their 90's stuff, in a good way. They got the producer from the Blue album to do it and created something new, yet familiar. Don't let the second song (Back to the Shack) turn you away...the rest of the album is really good. I also liked their follow up, White album.

That is a great Weezer song , why would you say it turns people away?

It sort of sounds like their one off hits from previous albums to me. I don't think it's a bad song.

Yes I agree, and it's also totally ironic in that is what the lyrics are about..

Take me back to the shack (where they filmed say it ain't so), back to the strat with the lightning strap (rivers first guitar and strap, etc etc)
