I remember posting on this board the debut night when he scored 17 straight points, it was bananas and I don’t think I’ve ever been so optimistic and happy as a Pels fan

Seeing this video lay out the timeline is just depressing.

I was so into anything except sports during Covid, bubble Zion makes me pissed off four years too late.

Genuinely thought he would lead us to contending and super stardom…and that wasn’t a reach. He should have been able to.

Not a single play off appearance. Always injured…and he doesn’t care. Or, at least, he doesn’t care enough to change ‘properly’ and be committed to being a professional athlete and everything that entails on and off the court…. In and out of season.

It could only happen to us.

I think it’s the biggest bust of all time.

Some guys bust like Anthony Bennett or Fultz because they imply weren’t good enough. Others like oden because of injuries they couldn’t control.

Others are soft busts because they were good but not great like ayton or towns or brand.

Zion clearly was good enough to dominate and threw it away.

I remember posting back then that he would be out of the league in 4-6 years....of course I was downvoted but .......

Original prediction later adjusted for pie in the sky optimism of the owners:

I’ll say it again: Zion will never play a full season due to injuries and will be out of the league in 3-4years...

Imagine being one of the biggest draft busts in NBA history….

Not because of injuries (like Oden) but because of your own outrageous laziness and stupidity

The lore around him was so massive that he could’ve easily surpassed a billion dollars of earning by retirement. He was selling out summer league games just for people to see him play. He went from that, to the entire world making fun of him and talking poorly about him. Still doesn’t change. It’s absolutely wild.

I mean Len Bias did this in one night plus his entire life. So he might ultimately win the award but people won’t want to say that.

I think Zion is a bigger bust for two reasons:

1. We don’t actually know if bias would have been great in the nba. Zion at least showed when healthy he can be the best player on the court.

2. Zion isn’t just one bust, he’s 6 busts at this point. If at any point in time in the last 6 seasons he gave half a shite about his weight and health he’d be an all nba player.

That was a depressing watch to say the least.

One factor worth exploring is what level of terrible luck has whatiknowsofar brought us with his terrible "SONS" schtick in virtually every game thread during Zions career?

Yes, we need a new coach and GM but we also need a new leader on Pelicans Talk.

To be fair, he hasn’t come anywhere close to playing 6 seasons worth of games yet

He’s basically played 2 seasons and some change in the nba over a span of 6 seasons.

He seriously should consider it. A lifestyle change is of course better long term, but he has nothing to lose in the short term by taking semaglutides. He needs something to help him take off the fat.
