It doesn't make sense for Kellen Moore to draft his QB this year.

When you draft a QB in the first round, the clock starts ticking for the head coach. He's unlikely to get another bite of that apple. From a career standpoint, Kellen would be better off giving himself a season to get his and the Saints shite together. Remember, he didn't even have his first choice for coaching staff because he got hired so late. Consider 2025 year zero, 2026 will be year 1. I think Mickey is savvy enough to be on the same page.

If the Louisville kid is there in round 2, they will take him.

All just depends if he likes someone. All we have to go on is content creators and beat writers throwing stuff out for clicks. If he really likes dart sanders I don’t think he’s going to wait.

my latest mock has 0% chance of happening outside of the QB pick so im ok with the qb 132 pick if this happens.

9- Carter
40- Nolen
71-Watts
93- E Jones
112- I Bond
132- Q Ewers

The Saints roster is a nightmare for a rookie quarterback, so we’ve got work to do…

I wouldn't, start Rattler and draft Ewers for depth later on

i could see drafting shough or milroe if they last til 40, but i wouldn't bet on it.

would be interesting to see what milroe would look like in a couple years under moore. seems like his type of qb.

That would be a great value pick.

Nah. Draft lineman & DBs. We’re already a year into 1 project QB. Let’s not a waste a high pick on another.

He’s the hot name at QB right now. He won’t make it to the second round. The Steelers will take at 21 if he’s still there

The clock has already started ticking. He’s not going to sit on his hands. It’s easy for us to want him to tank and wait for a better talent pool. But if he loses 10 games next year no one is going to let him use the “well I haven’t drafted a good quarterback yet so this doesn’t count” excuse

Brian Callahan says hi.

Conversely, Matt Eberflus says OP knows what he is talking about - passed on QB in 2023 draft, sucked, was not fired, drafted Caleb Williams in 2024, tick tock, out on my arse after that season.

People will bitch if/when he loses one game. The Saints aren’t a QB away from the Superbowl. If he falls in love with a QB at 9 then he will take one. I highly doubt the Saints would fire him after a year unless he himself is a disaster at running the team.

In their current situation, if they are actually switching the defense it would probably be smart to go heavy on defense in the draft or even just BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE. That is simply my ‘Saints Talk’ opinion of course.

Don’t know how I forgot but when I read this I swore he had been with the Bears longer than he was.

Also haven’t the bears had an odd cycle with hiring and firing GMS, Coaches and drafting QBs that neither coach and gm were both sold on or that the previous guy drafted that the current guy didn’t want?

100% great post and accurate.

Why tie your wagon to QB whom is probably a long shot in this class.

Totally down with staying home and grabbing Campbell if available

If he is looking at this team as a head coach and not as an OC, he will see holes everywhere he needs to address. He knows he has cap trouble so the draft is the best way to address this. Taking a QB is not the primary need right now but both lines are.

ETA If Will Campbell isn't there at 9 then I would definitely trade back for the extra picks.
