At least you can say he’s a proven good player in college like Fuaga. That’s better than a big chunk of our recent first rounders.

Adding a legit T/G is always a plus.
Penning is on thin ice

If he’s good at LT, you potentially get better at 3 positions by moving Fuaga to his best spot at RT and Penning to a better spot a Guard

Good pick, go G round 2 and 2 Dline in round 3

Absolutely not, Sanders is a day two pick at best

they are setting their line up to protect the QB whoever that may be

Allowed 1 sack, 2 hits, 7 hurries in 2024

Honestly this isn’t the year to get a QB. That allowed us to put him at RT or what I like better is put him at LT and move Fuaga back to his natural at RT. Then move Penning to guard as more of a road grater anyway. Shore up the OL. Get some play makers through 2,3,4th round. Then have that for the QB to go after next year.

Yes but this feels like the 12th year in a row the saints has picked a freaking OL for the 1st pick.
I’ll take anything at this point at any skill position. QB, RB, WR, DB, LB, S. Just not another boring OL as first pick. I’m sure there is still lots of good ones by the 2nd pick

We had 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder on the o-line already. We have invested a shite ton in it already. We could have gotten a G in the 3rd

I don't have an issue with it, think it is a good pick.

Posted in the pinned thread, but thought I'd put this here as well.
WalterFootball gave the Saints an A grade on the pick.

Yeah, you have your two tackles of the future. Moore knows what's important.
Banks played a bunch of different sets at Texas too. They run a bunch of different formations and plays. He can get out on screens and is a great pass protector.

sure, that's best case scenario... worst case is he sucks at LT, Penning sucks at LG, and Fuaga is not as good at RT as LT and you've wasted some of his development trying him at RT... at least Fuaga has the ability to play RT, Banks is a LT and only a LT

You need people to protect your qb.
This is uninspiring but how good teams are built.

Penning isn’t a good G, he’s barely an NFL OL at this point.
Posted on 4/24/25 at 8:27 pm to S
It’s boring because we shouldn’t need to still be drafting OL but as gyno said it’s not a reason to ignore the need…just another result of poor Mickey roster building but he still gets to call the shots

Glad we are locking up the O-line for our future franchise QB.
