Dude could have made 6-8 Million in a one year deal.

Will now make 4.3 over 4 year deal.

Whether Quinn Ewers should have stayed in college for another year is a complex question with no definitive answer. Ewers, after a successful college career, was drafted in the 7th round by the Miami Dolphins, but the decision to enter the draft rather than explore the transfer portal was heavily debated. He could have earned significant NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) money by returning to college, potentially surpassing his NFL rookie contract value. However, he also secured a chance to pursue his professional football aspirations, a decision with both financial and career implications.
Here's a more detailed look at the arguments:
Arguments for Staying in College:
Significant NIL Earnings:
Ewers reportedly had a transfer offer in the range of $6 million to $8 million, significantly exceeding the value of his NFL draft slot. A 7th-round pick is projected to make around $4.3 million over four years, according to Spotrac.
Guaranteed Starting Position:
Had he entered the transfer portal, Ewers likely would have secured a starting quarterback position at another prominent college program, providing more opportunities to showcase his talents.
Potential for Further Development:
Another year in college could have allowed Ewers to refine his skills, gain more experience, and potentially increase his draft stock.
Risk of NFL Injury:
Entering the NFL carries the risk of an injury that could derail his career, while staying in college might offer more protection against that possibility.
Arguments for Entering the Draft:
NFL Aspirations:
.
Ewers clearly desired to pursue a professional football career, and entering the draft was the first step towards that goal.
NFL Rookie Contract Value:
.
While the 7th-round pick might not be the highest-paying, it still represented a significant financial opportunity and a chance to play in the NFL.
Career Opportunity:
.
The draft provided Ewers with the chance to be drafted by a team and potentially earn a starting position or become a valuable backup.
Ultimately, Ewers made the decision that he felt was best for his career and financial goals. The decision was a calculated gamble with potential for high rewards or significant setbacks, but it was a decision he made with his own future in mind.

Yikes.

His agent lied to him big time.
