Went to Wal Mart. Picked up some ammo. Saw a Simmons Laser Rangefinder red tagged on the back wall for $49. What the heck I'll take it. Rang up as $99.99. Took 15 minutes to get the appropriate people over to price override. While we are waiting Cashier notes the blister pack had been opened. I tell her I don't care as long as it works, if it doesn't I'll just return it. Get home pull the rangefinder out, and it isn't even the right rangefinder in the box. Inside the box is a cheap "Halo R400" which gets nothing but horrible reviews online instead of the Simmons which gets really good reviews. I'm guessing it doesn't even work if someone did the ole switcheroo.
Looking online people in similar situations have had nothing but problems returning stuff to Wal Mart that has the wrong item in the box. Every now and then I need a reminder on why I don't go to Wal Mart. We'll see if they make this right.

Bought some ProV1's from Walmart once only to get to the course and find out someone switched them out with cheap arse Pinnacles. I was furious.

Who had the neck tattoo? The cashier? The manager approving the override? Both?

When you are at customer service and they don't want to work with you, just look up over their head at the district managers name and number and call him/her on the spot right in front of them. That gets their attention really really fast.

so you are the one about to pull the switch-a-roo and are just covering your tracks by posting this here, aren't you.

Take off back and say it wasn't even the correct item, get your money back or if you're slick with words, and if the person helping is dumb.. parlay it into a brand new Simmons.

Cashier tried to warn you.
Never buy anything from WalMarks that looks like it's been opened.

Is this Wal Mart's fault, or the a-hole that stole the nice rangefinder and replaced it with a cheap brand?
To be fair to Wal-Mart (I know you won't be), the worker noticed the box was damaged, and you made the decision to move forward because you didn't care. So now that you open it and you're fricked with a terrible item, you want to take the box back to WM with the story that "I bought this but the wrong item was in the box...it was opened when I bought it" and you expect them to be like "This guy seems legit, let's refund all of his money"..??
I'm not even trying to be an a-hole here, but although I've heard stories where they are super lenient as well with this kinda shite, I wouldn't be surprised if WM told you to frick off.
FWIW, I think WM is awesome and people who randomly hate on it are stupid.

Why wouldn't you check at the store?

I love walmart, they save me thousands of dollars a year. I'm just smart enough to not put a damaged package in my buggy and expect it to be all rainbows and unicorns when I get home with it.

So what should I have checked? I should buy a battery and check it right there in the store? The rangefinder was in the package. I don't expect it to the the WRONG rangefinder. If it doesn't function when I get home I can just return it. Not a big deal. But the wrong item is in the package which makes returning it now a hassle. They had a ton of scopes and knives and stuff on clearance in the hunting section, most of it former display items. At the time I was thinking maybe it was one that was formerly in the display case.

So I went and banged a plank road hooker the other day. She was all like "do you wanna wear a condom" I said I didn't care as long as I got off. Now I've got AIDS. I'm gonna go complain to her pimp, hopefully he'll pay for my AIDS medicine.
