Mexicans are driving them and cutting me off on Beltway 8 on a Friday evening.

I owned a 1998 F150 for about 20 years. It was a good truck but not without problems.

-Notorious for spitting out spark plugs from the head as they only had about 3 thread in the aluminum for the non-gasketed spark plug.
-Rear windows leaked, the seal and trim was a really weird design.
-Anemic and underpowered by todays standards.
-Rear brake drums required frequent adjustment (they went to 4 wheel discs in 1999)

It was the last vehicle I owned with a real mechanical odometer (they went digital in 1999).

Upgraded to 2018 Tundra from that truck. It's been a great truck so far.

Was a 98 f150 considered a good truck?

They are not old enough yet and it’s a ford. I feel like Chevy always become the sought after classic before ford.

People are spending good money on nice 1988-98 Chevy/GMCs.

Haven't seen one of those goofy looking '97 and up Fords on the road around here for quite a while. Lots of Chevys of the same vintage used as daily drivers. Rusty, but still going strong.

I agree and my last two trucks have been F-250’s. I would love a 1998 F-250 with a 6.7 in it though

Problem is to buy a 1998 F-250 like I would want it I’d be better off buying a 2025 F-250. I need to buy a barn and just keep every vehicle I have ever bought.

Hell yeah it was. Although Chevy had better engines at the time.

I had a 1999 F150, single cab V6. Great truck, solid zero issues but that V6 was a slug. 4.2L is pretty large for a V6, but it was so slow and only about 13mpg.

I had a Ford Ranger Splash model from that year. Served me well. Used it to get dive gear to the beach and back.

I had a cute little Nissan Frontier single cab around that time. Pretty sure I saw it get demolished by a monster truck at some rally I saw on TV a couple weeks back. Lol good times

A 98 had the 7.3. I have a 99 F250 with the 7.3-very comfortable.

I had the 2WD version and it was a fantastic truck. That was the only new vehicle I ever had as my primary driver.

I had the little V8 and extended cab.

Had a 97’ one. $14600 brand new. Was a very good truck. Not a single problem for the 160k miles I put on it. My brother had one too. Good luck on his end too with more mileage.

Had a black 99 F150 SC 4x4 Sport package. Loved it and should have kept it. Horrible gas mileage but otherwise was great.

Why can't we have those simple trucks
