Incredible in the pocket southern redneck country rock funk groove. Just because it’s been overplayed doesn’t mean that it’s not perfectly arranged and executed.

Hard to find a better place than 9 bushwackers deep at the Florabama yelling this while knowing you’re going to at least fingerbang a 4 tonight

Like it or not, it’s a legendary song by a band that achieved legend status in a relatively short amount of time between when they made it big and when the plane crash happened. I think the band and song can be appreciated for that.

Growing up in skynyrdville had me hating the song before I even got to college. I was starting to come back around on it after almost a decade off, then kid rock fricked it up

Who would have thought that John Denver leaving the tour with them and then wanting to write a song about them would create would have the most played songs ever.
“Tell John Denver, a southern man don’t need him around anyhow.”

Without a doubt the most recognizable opening riff in music history, followed by the iconoic phrase "turn it up". Classic.
Great song immortalizing a great state.
Oh, Sweet Home!

I understand. The hip music kids ( me) were trained to hate anything southern that sounded like a redneck anthem. But standing alone, on its merits, it’s a legitimately great song. As is much of their catalogue.

Great song and a great band, but not sure about this statement.

If not for that plane crash they would be known today as the greatest rock band ever. They were just getting started

The Muscle Shoals Music Studio is such a great roadside stop. You would never know that some legendary hits were recorded in that dumpy building in the middle of nowhere.

How many brothers you think have fricked their sister to that song?

Is this when y'all started fricking your sisters?

Highly encourage anyone with any interest in music to watch the Muscle Shoals documentary. The number of legendary musicians/artists/bands that recorded in Muscle Shoals at one point or another is astounding.

I immediately judge every cover band by whether or not they can play the hammer-on part correctly.

I think some of y’all hate and downvote anything with “Alabama” in it, even if it’s totally unrelated to college sports.
