it's because they are black.
Most of the time it is
For being a minority they sure make up the majority of the crime in this country. But we can’t say that because it’s racist.

People aren't downvoting because they're too idiotic to understand the policy ?
It's that
1 - Instead of just using the policy to cover their asses from liability, they went so far as to fire her over it
2 - None of us particularly give a frick about the Lowe's bottom line, but there is a bigger negative effect on society when we allow people to get away with things like this, even if the Lowes lawyers would prefer this particular scenario.
... actually not one person realizes the purpose for Lowes firing her ...
#1 --- this person should straight away sue the $hit out of Lowes for creating a hazardous work environment
She has evidence to this FACT
2 --- the real reason they fired her was due to this FACT. Lowes is scared to death she is going to sue even though they have a policy like this in place. But you see she is a senior citizen and a woman -- and which the store (Lowes) offered no protection to her while on the job.
#3 --- In order for Lowes to wiggle out of this, they fired her --- to cast the label of "disgruntled employee" on her.
Every large company in the US would like nothing better than to hang that label on ANY fired employee.
That is their "Get out of Jail Free" card.

This decision was made in Morresville, not Rincon. Hopefully people Bud Light Lowe’s.

No business is saying “y’all we get robbed so much that we’re gonna have to raise prices” so cut that narrative real quick.
Walmart in Fairfield Alabama closed due to shoplifting and employee theft.

Lowe’s. Another company that supports theft

Uh, yeah, they do. They know this shite happens. There are commercial insurance policies for this. This is also not a massive hit to their bottom line. Walmart loses $3 billion YEARLY to theft. That’s only a 1% of what they make. Do you see the locals at Walmart struggling? No.
Well stores close then we get to hear about racism again.
I’d rather kill the shoplifter and hear about racism over stores closing down due to losses and it being blamed on racism.

Lowes goes through great lengths communicating to employees to never go after thieves - or fired. Their policy is widely known breeding theft after theft. Guess who winds up paying for it?

Someone needs to pick up that first round draft choice. Lowes might have rules but that sucks to fire her. Now my products are costing me more.

So your logic: Policy: *exists* You: *breaks policy you disagree with* Also you: *gets fired for breaking policy* ALSO you: “why am I being fired?”
If the criminals that shoplifted get arrested, will they get the maximum sentence? Does it he DA or judge get to show any discretion?

yeah, that's why so many stores are closing, right?

I met a guy that was fired from a convenience store in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago. He whacked a robber with something in the store.
His company had a policy of "no resistance" so they let him go. He thought he was a hero.

This. It is spreading out and has to be stopped.

Yep, and thieves are not afraid to be arrested, nor do they care what people think of them. They know they can shoplift with impunity and that DAs will not adequately hold them accountable. They also know corporations are afraid of getting sued.
Even if the thugs are arrested, so what? It's probably a better living environment than at home, so it's no deterrent.
It will only get worse.

I will bet you one dollar that the thieves in this case have been arrested many times before.
They don't give a frick about being arrested.

Lawyers that have cultivated the sue happy culture in this country and force these companies to have these policies are complete pieces of shite
This is not lawyers. It is your elected prosecuters and law enforcement unwilling to prosecute petty theft, which then encourages it.

This is why anyone who is a member of the bar should be ineligible for elected office.

These shite arse corporations have shifted shoplifting prevention away from employees to local/County law enforcement, thus placing the burden on the taxpayers instead of having to worry about health insurance impacts of an instance like this.
Ulta Beauty has been getting hit REPEATEDLY all over the country, even in Slidell multiple times, and the company doesn't do shite about it. Slidell PD is constantly posting about looking for thieves from there, and I'm constantly saying it's time for Ulta to gtfo and quit abusing taxpayers like this when they do NOTHING to prevent theft.
Corporate America is a problem.

I don't understand why anyone would risk their safety to stop a theft especially at a big box store.
If the store doesn't care why should you? What did she think she was going to save? The stores budget for stuff to sink to the ocean on transit and walk out the store at some specific rate.
