Aerosinusitis cure?

I just had maybe the most debilitating, excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my life during a descent in a plane. I’ve flown before but have never felt anything quite like this. It felt like my skull was about to rip open above my left eye. I woke up with a slight sinus headache this morning so I had some sinus pressure before the flight. Any tips or cures for this? I don’t know how I’ll manage on the return flight home.

The Valsalva Maneuver
1)Close your mouth.
2)Squeeze the nostrils closed with one finger.
3)Gently attempt to exhale out of your nose while keeping your nose pinched and mouth closed.
4)Continue until you relieve the pressure.

I had no clue there was an actual name for that.

The Valsalva maneuver is a breathing technique that can be used to unclog ears, restore heart rhythm or diagnose an autonomic nervous system (ANS). It is a quick, noninvasive method for a fast heart rhythm called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). To perform the maneuver, you should close your mouth, pinch your nose shut, and press the air out like you are blowing up a balloon.2 It is one of several simple physical actions called vagal maneuvers that act on the vagus nerve to slow your heart rate. Doctors may suggest vagal maneuvers to try and slow your heart when it’s beating too fast.0 The technique requires you to try exhaling when your airways are blocked.

That happened to me once about 20 years ago. I still think about it every time I fly but thankfully hasn’t happened again.

Yep. I had it during a turbulent flight about 25 years ago. Now I won’t fly without haven taken a Sudafed and I carry, what I call, a nose stick. One of the mentholated things you sniff. I had it mid flight and was cursing and hitting the seat in front of me. Stewardess brought me a hot towel and had me hang my head. That made it tolerable but I had pain above my eye very similar to being punched in the eye for two days.

This will suck but i can promise you it will be an immediate fix.
Get some OC spray.
Take the stuff, spray it on a paper plate, take your finger and get some and then put it just below each nostril.
It will 100% open up your sinuses and drain everything immediately.
You can go the medicinal route and it will take time or you can ask yourself just how badly do you want to fix your problem

I had this several years ago. I imagine it’s what having an aneurysm feels like. I would bring Afrin with me and give a few sprays up my nose before we landed. It would clear me out and helped a bit

I have sought professional help for this issue. Here is what I was told...
Before you board the plane or take off, spray each nostril with Afrin, take Pseudoephedrine (available behind the counter without a prescription in most states), e.g., Mucinex D, Sudafed (not the PE version), take OTC pain meds, on the flight you can use a Breath Right strip. You won't look cool or join the Mile High club using nasal strips, but it helps.
The issue is your head is stopped up and the pressure cannot normalize.
