Amazon package not delivered... says it was left in mailbox - Solved Pg 4

I buy from Amazon Prime all the time. I ordered some medication for my dog on Tuesday, Amazon's order status says it was delivered and left in my mailbox. It wasn't. Their website says to wait 36 hours before reaching out to them to see if it shows up.
Anyone had this happen? Did it get delivered a day later or anything? Do I just need to wait?

Sometimes I've learned that they drop it off at your local post office and it get delivered the next day

be sure to check all of your entrances and also check with your neighbors to see if it was left there...I have had them leave things at the front door where I didn't check initially.

OK, thanks. I was thrown off by the "it's in your mailbox" and it wasn't. Maybe it will be here tomorrow.

Yes. Turns out the package was sent to Pennsylvania. They immediately refunded.

actually you can check with whoever the shipping service is.. i assume USPS since it says mailbox?

I checked all around the house, mailbox, garage doors, front doors, nothing. Will hope it shows up tomorrow.'

Happened this week. Same "in the mailbox" message. Wasn't there. I looked up the procedure to report this and saw the same thing you did about waiting 36 hrs. Next afternoon it showed up.

USPS doesn't know how to do this stuff. I'm pretty sure they scan it as delivered when they come into possession of it, not when it's actually delivered.
Anytime I have them as the shipper I get the delivery notice before it actually arrives.

It happened to me when I ordered the full Star Wars 6 episode box set. Said it was delivered but it wasn't. They gave me a full refund the next day. A few days later, I notice a neighbor walk up to my house and leave a package on my door. It was the box set I ordered. Either they stole it and felt guilty or it took them a few days to realize it was delivered to the wrong house (the Amazon package was unopened however).
I had no desire to steal from Amazon, so I called them immediately and told them I finally received the package so they could charge me for it again.

USPS lies on deliveries all the time. They say they delivered or was unable to deliver - want to look good for Amazon
